Nabasa, connived with her friend one Kyomuhangyi Beatrice on 16th April who called her brother Kakuru Martin saying that his sister had been kidnapped and that a 3.5 million shillings ransom was urgently needed or else she will be killed.
Kakuru told Journalists that they immediately mobilized 3 million shillings which they sent through mobile money transfer as they alerted police.
Kakuru added that two days later his sister called and claimed that she had been released and abandoned in Lyantonde about 70 kilometres away along Mbarara-Kampala road and requested for transport which was also sent to her.
Rwizi region police spokesperson Samson Kasasira said that upon her release security launched investigations and discovered that the mobile phone numbers used in the transactions never left Kaberebere and Katete ward in Nyamitanga Division which forced police to arrest and subject her to interrogation.
During the process police was able to also arrest her friend and recover 2.65 million shillings from them. Though relatives claim to have forgiven her, police says they will be forwarded to court and have since been charged with giving false information and demanding property with menace
