WOMAN, SONS ARRESTED OVER HUSBAND’S MURDER

Police in Rukungiri district are holding three family members on allegation of killing their family head.

The deceased Godfrey Mugisha 58, resident of Kahimbi cell, Kikarara parish, Bwambara Sub County in Rukungiri district was allegedly killed by his wife Tumushabe Beatrice and his two sons Banturaki Beinomugisha 15 and Tumwesigye Lawrence

According to Elly Maate the Kigezi police spokesperson Mugisha and Tumushabe have had a long-time domestic violence which they suspect to have resulted into the killing.

Police indicate that on April 18th 2021, Mugisha fought, burnt Tumushabe’s clothes and further chased her away accusing her of engaging in multiple love affairs.

Maate says that Mugisha remained alone until April 23rd 2021 when his son Banturaki heard a bad smell while passing near the father’s residence and passed on the information to another brother Kyokushaba Alex 37 whom they together broke into the house and found him dead.

Maate adds that the duo later reported the matter to Kikarara police post which visited the scene, did the postmortem which according to them Mugisha’s death resulted from strangulation.

The case of death by strangulation was filed at Rukungiri Central Police station under Reference number CRB765/2021.
