The government has secured 1.9 billion shillings from World Bank towards refurbishing two health centre IIs in the district and upgrade them to health centre IIIs.
While touring health facilities on Tuesday this week, the Ntungamo District woman MP Hon Beatrice Rwakimaari said the money will go to rehabilitating Buhanama health II in Nyamukana Town council and Rwoho health center II in Rwoho town council , all in Ruhaama county, with each taking 950 million shillings.
Addressing the community at both facilities Hon Rwakimaari asked general public to be patient and calm with government regarding service delivery in their areas of concern.
She assured them that government is committed to fulfill its pledge as far as infrastructural development is concerned but told them that development is a gradual process.
This follows other three health center IIs being upgraded in the district.
Early this year Ntungamo District received additional funding of 1.5bn for upgrading three health center IIs to HCIIIs which included Karuruma HCII, Kyamwasha HCII and Ruhoko HCII.
Hon Rwakimaari said that these health Centers
when upgraded will reduce the pressure on Itojo hospital and Kitwe health
center IV.
She noted that in the next financial year Kishami and Rwanda health facilities
will be considered.
The team leader of customization of designs site survey for facilities to be upgraded under the Uganda Reproductive Maternal and child health Eng Kiberu Dennis noted that World Bank will construct 82 health facilities across the country including Buhanama and Rwoho starting January next year.
Eng Kiberu revealed that World Bank in conjunction with ministry of health will construct maternity/general, staff quarters, theatre, placenta pit and 4 stances VIP latrine within a period of twelve months.
