YOU ARE IDLERS—MINISTER BARYOMUNSI TELLS DEMONSTRATORS
BY VANANSIO MBABAZI
IN KABALE—
State Minister for Housing and Urban planning Dr. Chris Baryomunsi has
described Kabale Tea Nursery operators who were demonstrating against
him as idlers.
On Saturday 24th this month, over 20 Tea Nursery operators in Kabale
district staged a demonstration accusing Dr. Baryomunsi the
Kinkizi East parliamentarian for sabotaging their payments.
They claimed that Dr Baryomunsi’s letter dated 16th addressed to the
Inspectorate General of Government calling for the investigation of
Kinkizi Development Company that was contracted by government to help
promote tea growing in the districts of Rubanda, Kabale and Kanungu
was aimed at stopping their payments.
Speaking to www.mknewslink.com news website on phone today, Baryomunsi said that the
Kabale Tea Nursery operators are misled and being used by Musinguzi
Garuga because he [Baryomunsi] wrote to the Inspectorate General of government to
investigate his company.
He says that he wrote to IGG to investigate Kinkizi Cooperative
Company because he had received reports from his voters that company
had swindled, deducted money from tea nursery operators to construct
district head quarters but was never remitted.
The Kabale Tea Nursery operator’s chairperson Phillip Zikampereza says
that it’s unfortunate for a minister to describe farmers fighting for
their money as idlers. He says that they will not rest until they are
paid.
