Police was visibly overwhelmed by the crowds and could do little to contain the situation.
Protesters said they were enraged by the shooting of Abiriga in Wakiso District on Friday and demanded an explanation from government.
In the ensuing chaos, mobs hurled stones at Police who responded by firing live bullets in the air.
The streets looks like battle grounds, with property worth millions of shillings destroyed.
Officials say several people have been injured in the chaos.
