JANET MUSEVENI’S CONSTITUENCY RESIDENTS TO DEMONSTRATE OVER ELECTRICITY

The angry residents from over 13 villages in Rukoni East sub county Ruhaama county Ntungamo District led by their leaders have vowed to protest over what they call discrimination in electricity power connection by Rural Electricity Agency in their area.
Speaking to our reporter residents led by LCV councilor for Rukoni East sub county Nuwagaba Nicholas noted that in the whole sub county there is no electricity pole yet they operate their everyday business on generators which are expensive.
Councilor Nuwagaba revealed that they have over 15 schools,17 trading centers,4 health centers and 6 small scale industries of which all need electricity for sustainability.
The areas that were jumped are Kabobo-Dembe-Kihanga-Rwoho (4km),
Kyamwasha-Bacokyezo-Mushunga –Nyakazinga(3km),
Akatoogo-Kyamwasha PS and Kirungu (4km).
They noted when they contacted JBN consultants and planners which was contracted for Rukoni West,Kirera,Rwoho, Ngugo to Bugamba for mapping were told that line is not mapped.
In a petition dated 8th June 2017 to the executive director REA over 300 residents signed maintained that if they are not considered they will protest for being neglected.
