DON’T USE GOVERNMENT RESOURCES TO INTIMIDATE VOTERS—BESIGYE SPEAKS ON RUKUNGIRI BY ELECTION

Former FDC party president Rtd Col.Dr Kiiza Besigye has urged the people of Rukungiri to ensure that they take part in the polls to elect the district woman member of parliament in this by election
He said this by-election should be treated seriously because it’s a matter of determining the way the people must be governed and how they should regain their authority over those entrusted with public offices.
Campaigning for the FDC party flag bearer in the by-election at Bikongozo Nyakishenyi sub county Besigye said political dynamics of Rukungiri have showed that no amount of intimidation or voter bribery will take away their support for change which president Museveni has come to understand and getting scared of adding that what needs to be done is to massively turn up and vote for the candidate of their choice.
He warned government officials in security circles against involving in the election and intimidating the people using government resources to canvas support for NRM candidate.
FDC party flag bearer, Betty Bamukwasa Muzanira, said that she has already petitioned the electoral commission over such individuals in order to be reprimanded.
Six candidates are taking part in the Rukungiri district bye-election to elect the Woman Member of Parliament.
Faith Kukundakwe and Winfred Matsiko are flag bearers for People’s Progressive Party (PPP) and NRM respectively.
Others are Sheila Atukunda Kirebete, Elizabeth Rwakitonera and Prisca Sezi Mbaguta all independents.
The by elections will take place on May 31st 2018.
