A crisis meeting of Mbarara university council that sat on Feb. 22, 2019 resolved to write to the Attorney general to advise them whether the contract of the vice chancellor Prof. Celestine Obua be renewed automatically or the job be advertised.

The council chaired by Dr. Mbonye and his council rejected advice of the solicitor general who advised that the vice chancellor is appraised and his contract is renewed.
The council rejected solicitor generals advice of appraisal because tools of appraisal are set at the beginning of the contract but not at the end of the same.
A reliable source who attended the council meeting revealed all the above to www.mknewslink.com editor mid this week.
The source added that Prof. Obua was warned against his threats to go to court if his job is advertised by the council.
The source added that in the same vain council warned vice chancellor against using media to fight his wars. They warned him to stop immediately.
The letter to the attorney general is already sent and received by his office. The source told the editor of this website that Council will sit again at the end of next week to discuss the advice of the attorney General which will have been delivered to the university council by then.
Prof Obua was appointed vice chancellor on 29th Sept 2014 to replaced Prof. Kayanja who retired and was supposed to serve for 5 years.
