Finally misunderstandings in the Greater Bushenyi Teachers Sacco between the petitioners and board have been resolved after mutual understanding from both sides.

Following the conflicts that have been arising in Greater Bushenyi Teachers Sacco since last year, a new board has been elected to push the Sacco forward.

In the annual General meeting of delegates that was held at Bushenyi Multipurpose hall today 22^nd June 2019 anew board under the leadership Mr. Kafaaku Koodoni have been put in place to rectify what have been wrong in the Sacco.

This has come following petitioners recommended the electing of a new board insisting that no one from the previous board should be mandated with power on the new board.

The petitioners led by Mr.Njoki John have been accusing the management of the Sacco over gross mismanagement of resources both financial and human, gross violation of SACCO Bylaws, policies, regulations and resolutions.

However having carried out two audits it was confirmed beyond no reasonable doubt that there is no single coin that was stolen which the petitioners say it is false.

Speaking to www.nknewslink.com after election, the new chairman board Mr.Kafaaku Koodoni has assured members that he will bring back the glory of Greater Bushenyi Teachers Sacco and make it a leading one.

Meanwhile the Bushenyi District Commercial Officer Mr.David Byamukama has assured the members that the district leaders are committed to make sure is brought back to the drawing board and thanked the RDC for his involvement to make sure that the two parties reach consensus.

The academic registrar Bishop Stuart University Mr. Abdom Aruho Rutega has argued schools to engage students in courses and disciplines that increase their competitiveness on the job market other than concentrating on traditional courses’ education that simply increase numbers to the list of the unemployed.

He said that because schools only offer courses that are traditional and do not favor the current job market, students have also failed to get the necessary capacity either to choose the right courses or to study in commensurate vocational and technological advances systems that enable they suit and fit in the current job market causing vast unemployment in the country.

He said this while presiding over the graduation ceremony for 197 former students of RAP Tech institute of business and technology Ntungamo on Friday 21^st june2019.

Winston Abanaitwe the UBTEB examinations official asked students to go vocational even when they may have studied other different courses because this is the best line for skills acquisition that can run the day to day life.

The head of special needs education Kyambogo University Dr Stuart Oyesigye cautioned students and schools against just thinking on having certificates only but also ensure that there are general skills acquired during the school course time. He argued more boys to turn up for business education as girls are taking over the courses.

There were only 35 boys out of the 197 grandaunts.

The school director Mr Rogers Ayijuka said the school was concentrating on imparting knowledge and general entrepreneurship skills that the students may make their own jobs other than just filing space in the job market.

In Rukiga

An old man was on Friday morning 21^st June 2019 found murdered in Rukiga District along side road.

The deceased who was identified as Geoffrey Tumwikirize aged 58 a resident of Nyamabaare village, Ibumba parish in Rwamucucu Sub County was discovered at around 6:30am lying naked in a pool of blood along side road, just 15 kilometers away from his home in Nyamabaare village.

According to the Rwamucucu Sub county LC5 Councilor Eddy Mugisha, Geoffrey might have been strangled to death in a banana plantation and later his body carried to the long side of the road.

Speaking to the deceased’s son Bruce Ariho told www.mknewslink.com that he went with him at Nyakahita trading center at around 6:00pm to buy him a drink after Ariho had bought a brand new motorcycle as part of celebration.

Ariho said that he left him with other local people on social hour but only to be shocked in morning that his father was murdered.

The Rukiga district police commander Aggrey Okum confirmed the incident as postmortem and investigations are ongoing to find out clear cause of the deceased’s death.

Congo DR vs Uganda

The Uganda Cranes will be hoping to get off to the best possible start, when they take on Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in their AFCON 2019 Group A opener on Saturday afternoon.

After a 2-week long camp in Abu Dhabi, the Cranes are understood to have had the best of preparations as they seek to write history in Ugandan football.

Uganda’s best ever performance at the AFCON, dates back to 1978, when they finished as the tournament’s runners up after losing 0-2 to Ghana in the final.

In 2017, the Cranes made their return to AFCON after 39 years of waiting; however, they could not get past the group stages.

This time round, especially after the tournament was expanded to 24 teams, Uganda is expected to make the last 16.

Uganda boosts arguably the best goalkeeper at the tournament in Denis Onyango and coupled with a talented crop in front of him, it is only right to up the expectations, starting with the game against DRC.

Uganda lost 0-1 to Egypt in their first game in the last edition in Gabon and it is a scenario that they will need to avoid this time round.

However, DRC will be having very different ideas come match day. The Leopards have progressed passed the group stages in each of their last two AFCON appearances and know how pivotal the first game is.

Having won the title twice in history, DRC are strong outsiders to clinch this years’ title and with a squad boosting the likes of Yusuf Mulumbu, Yannick Bolasie and Cedric Bakamabu, they are indeed out to cause havoc starting with the game against Uganda

DR Congo have progressed through to the knockout stages at each of the last two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and achieved a third-place finish in 2015. The squad arrived in Egypt on Monday night direct from Spain where they had held their pre-tournament training camp having concluded their preparations with a 1-1 draw against Kenya. Although they are unbeaten in their last five matches, they have won only one of those games with a solitary win against Liberia being their only success in their last nine outings.

Uganda are appearing at the Africa Cup of Nations for the second consecutive time having featured in 2017 after an absence of 39 years without making it through to the finals. They had a comfortable qualifying passage to reach this stage as they didn’t lose a match or concede a goal in five matches before a defeat in Tanzania when they had already confirmed qualification. Preparations for the tournament were completed with a 1-0 victory against the Ivory Coast last Saturday. Farouk Miya – who is likely to be one of Uganda’s main players at the tournament – scored his 22nd international goal to settle the match in Uganda’s favour.

Rukungiri municipality Member of Parliament Roland Mugume Kaginda has blamed the government for spending a lot of money funding officials to go abroad for benchmarking on issues related to accountability yet there are  institutions in the country that are corruption free which government can use to learn from and reverse the trend.

Kaginda said Immaculate Heart girls school is one of such institutions that have become model for proper utilization of government funds in infrastructural development.

Citing an example Kaginda said that a multipurpose complex built by Immaculate heart girls school administrators was initially put to a tune of 22 billion shillings by government officials but the administrators were able to construct it using less than 5 billion.

Kaginda said these administrators deserve medals than those who received them because of supporting the system.

According to Sister Gladace Kachope the school headmistress, the Jubilee complex with sitting capacity of more than thousand people, was built to mark fifty years of existence of the school and will house a chapel, dinning and main halls as well as class rooms.

Kaginda further said that he has requested the parliament of Uganda to send accountability committee of parliament for bench marking at immaculate heart which he suggests to be a learning center for government institutions on matters of accountability and transiency instead of spending millions of money to go to the United States of America.

In Bushenyi

Minister for general duties in the office of the Prime Minister Can. Mary Karooro has reechoed her commitment to establish a factory that will manufacture reusable sanitary pads for girls.

She said that the factory which will be constructed in Nyakabirizi division, Bushenyi-Ishaka municipality will help girls get reusable pads at a cheaper price.

Can. Okurutu also noted that most girls drop out of school because they cannot afford to buy pads and those still schooling find it rough during their menstrual periods adding that with this initiative, girls will be able to get affordable pads.

Karooro revealed that in a strategy to fight malnutrition in Bushenyi, she is also going to start a factory to make nutritious food stuffs.

She said this yesterday 21^st June 2019 during the celebrations to mark the belated women’s day held at Mungonya Secondary school playground in Kyeizoba Sub County under the Theme:”Empowering women through innovative approaches to social protection; the requisite for inclusive and sustainable development”.
