In Kisoro

A group of angry people in Kisoro district have beaten and killed a woman just after suspecting her to have stolen a phone in bar.

The deceased was identified as Emily Ruhangariyo aged 24 a resident of Matyazo village, Rugarambiro parish; Nyundo sub-county Kisoro district.

Ruhangariyo was on 27^th Dec.2019 at around 4:30pm badly beaten up by mob justice leaving her unconscious for allegedly stealing an Infinix Hot 07 mobile phone belonging to Niyonshuti Shallon aged 28 a social worker and resident of Kanyenka village, Murumba parish, Murumba sub-county Kisoro district.

The incident happened at Phionah Tumwesigyes bar located in Nyaruyaga village, Nyamagana ward, central division, Kisoro municipality Kisoro district.

Police responded to the scene, rescued the victim and took her to kisoro hospital where she was pronounced dead after few hours.

The owner of the phone Shallon Niyonshuti was arrested and detained as Phionah Tumwesigye the bar owner and others remain at large.

By the time of compiling this story, the deceaseds body was still lying at Kisoro hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.

Inquiries into the matter have commenced and the case of murder has been registered at Kisoro police station under file number CRB: 938/2019

In Rukungiri
Patients have overwhelmed the free medical camp in Rukungiri district.
Yesterday a team of well wishers called Buyanja my roots pitched camp at Buyanja health center III in Buyanja town council Rukungiri district to provide free treatment to the residents.
The free medical camp was jointly supported by lions club Rukungiri district in conjunction with new century Bukoto lions club and Buyanja town council.
Thousands of residents with all sorts of ailments flocked the medical camp to benefit from the free treatment. Allan Asinguza Mutemba, the mind master of the free medical camp said that he was surprised by the poor and sub- standardized health services in Rukungiri district.
Asinguza said that he contacted his friends in Kampala who offered to come and provide free treatment to residents.
He said that the medical team comprising of Pharmacists, Surgeons, Ophthalmologists and other experts were overwhelmed by the number of patients who turned up.

71 -year old, one of the patients who have flocked the medical camp said that she has been suffering from high blood pressure for the last 20 years adding that she has never received any treatment for the last two years because she couldnt afford it.
50- year old- Nuciat Kyamulimi, a resident of Buyanja sub- County said that she has been ill for over a month after failing to get treatment of abdominal pain and suspected obstetric fistula adding that she went to Buyanja health III but didnt receive any medication.
She is however, optimistic that despite the fact that she has not yet received treatment at the medical camp, she is sure the visiting doctors will examine her condition because she is on waiting list.
Hon. Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, the state minister for housing and the Kinkiizi east Member of Parliament speaking as the guest of honor said that he decided to support the medical camp after he was informed about the increasing illnesses among the innocent Ugandans of Buyanja sub- County. He donated 3 beds to help expectant mothers.
Over 600 patients turned up for free treatment of HIV/AIDS testing, cancer screening, diabetes and pressure testing, family planning methods among others.
