In Bushenyi

Residents of Bushenyi are still in shock following an accident in which a drunkard rammed into four vehicles and one boda boda killing one person.

This accident happened in Ishaka town at Gaze petrol station on Mbarara stage today morning at around 7:00am.

According to SP Martial Tumusiime the greater Bushenyi Police Public Relations Officer, the driver of Premier reg.no UAV846P identified as Alex Ntambala aged 42 years rammed into four other vehicles which were parked at Gaze Petrol station before knocking down one boda boda rider who sustained serious injuries.

Martial added that the boda boda rider of motorcycle UES496 E who was identified as Abiaz Natukwasa aged 42 years a resident of Rushoraza in Kizinda town council died at KIU hospital few minutes after his arrival.

Martial told www.mknewslink.com that the driver was arrested, tested for alcohol and results confirmed that he was too drunk.

 He added that police are working on his file so that he can appear before court to face the wrath of the law.

In Mbarara—

Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) exams have today kicked off without hitches in Mbarara, with head teachers arriving in time to pick examinations from Mbarara Central Police Station.

A total of 333,775 candidates are expected to sit for the exams this year at 3,935 centers and they have started with Physics paper 3 this morning which will be followed by fine art still life in the afternoon.

According to Godfery Birungi the area supervisor station 054 Mbarara, the first set of exams was issued out on time and the head teachers have been advised to desist from engaging their candidates into malpractice.

Meanwhile Dan Odongo, the UNEB Executive Secretary has appealed to schools to allow learners with fees balances to sit for their final examinations, putting into consideration the challenges that parents are enduring as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Many have lost jobs and endured salary cuts, a development that affects their ability to clear school dues on time.

In Rukungiri—

The National Water and Sewarege Corporation (NWSC) Rukungiri has discovered that they lose over 15 million shillings in water theft

Rukungiri NWSC manager Sam Kiggundu warned that they have been tipped and we are working with Uganda Police in addition to paying 50000 shs  to whoever helps them to identify the culprits.

Kiggundu added that the culprits will handed over to police so that they are dealt with in accordance with the law.

The area manager also decried the unstable power supply that makes it hard for them to pump water on time as required by the community.

“We use electricity to pump the water. If it’s off, we are unable to. It is our request to UMEME that they should at least ensure a stable power supply if we’re to effectively serve the community with clean and safe water,” Kigundu lamented.

In Bunyangabu—

Unknown gunmen have killed one person critically injuring two others in Kibito sub County, Bunyangabu district.

The incident happened yesterday 28^th .Feb.2021 in Kabale Trading Centre.

Robert Nyakana a mobile money agent noted that three gunmen raided his premises and immediately started beating him demanding for money. 

He says that in the scuffle, the gunmen shot him in the leg before they made off with 300.000 cash and phones worth 3.5 million. 

On their way out, the thugs allegedly shot two other people identified as Wilson Karatunga a boda boda rider and another person only identified as Kapo.

Karatunga succumbed to bullet wounds as he was being rushed to Fort Portal regional referral hospital.

The Bunyangabu DPC Nasibu Ndita Kidimu said that the hunt for the suspects is underway.
