Thousands of people in Rukiga district have today converged along the  Mbarara- Kabale road to welcome Rukiga District Woman MP Hon. Kamusiime Caroline Muhwezi  who recently scooped the vice presidency of the  pan African Parliament.

On 1^st July hon, Kamusiime Caroline Muhwezi was elected as the elected as the chairperson women’s caucus representing Eastern Region. 

Before being elected as the chairperson women caucus representing Eastern Region on Saturday 2nd July. This year.

On 12^th July 2022 she was surprised by her Honorable colleagues as they welcomed her back into the country and congratulated her upon her election as 1st Vice President of the Women Caucus Bureau of the Pan African Parliament in Midland South Africa.

Addressing the residents, the Rukiga woman MP hon Kamusiime Caroline Muhwezi attributed her victory of the first vice president to God.

She added that the pan African Parliament In midland South Africa has nicknamed her the pastor because of her good  behavior. She added the colleague members now know Uganda but not the Rukiga she represents.

She called upon the parents to put God first  if they are to become successful .

“Nothing in was going to become if I had not put God first. Kamusiime added.” She added she was also surprised at being unopposed as the chairperson women caucus representing Eastern Region.

She further promised to continue lobbying for Rukiga district at the international level.

Twiine Deo  the vice chairperson NRM Muhanga town council with a lot of joy applauded the legislature for her endless efforts in their district.

Twine added that the position attained by the legislature is a blessing towards the development of the District.

5 family members this morning perished in a gruesome accident along the Kampala-Masaka highway,

The five included a police officer and his children who hail from Bunyarigi in Bushenyi district.

The accident  involved motor vehicle registration no UBH 902U (fuso fighter) which was traveling from Masaka side heading to Kampala and motor vehicle reg no UBE 756C (Toyota wish) whose occupants died on spot.

The Traffic Police Spokesperson Faridah Nampiima  identified the occupants of the motor vehicle as NO. 65577 PC Bwesigye Cleopus, a police officer attached to the Crime Intelligence department of Katwe Police station in Kampala, together with his family members, identified as Nyagoma Silomena 3, Nyakato Falestine 3, Kiiza Darliton 1, Kemigisha Maria Gorreti, a female adult and Twesigye Chrispus 31.

Five people hailing from Bunyarigi, in Bushenyi district  have perished this ,morning in a grisly accident along the  Kampala-Masaka highway.

The accident according to SP Faridah Nampiima the Traffic Police department spokesperson five persons occurred at around 4:30am at Kyalusowe swamp along the Masaka- Kampala highway.

It involved motor vehicle registration no UBH 902U (fuso fighter) which was traveling from Masaka side heading to Kampala and motor vehicle reg no UBE 756C (Toyota wish) whose occupants died on spot.

Namppima  identified the occupants of the motor vehicle as NO. 65577 PC Bwesigye Cleopus, a police officer  attached to the Crime Intelligence department of Katwe Police station in Kampala, together with his family members, identified as Nyagoma Silomena 3, Nyakato Falestine 3, Kiiza Darliton 1, Kemigisha Maria Gorreti, a female adult and Twesigye Chrispus 31.

Nampiima adds that the bodies have been conveyed to Masaka City Mortuary for postmortem examination.

The cause of the accident has been attributed to the driver of the Toyota wish who left his lane  causing a head-on collision

“We continue to remind all road users to be vigilant while using the roads and further call upon all road users to change their attitude while using the road” she added.

The incoming Kisoro Municipal Town Clerk Haruna has equated his transfer to Kisoro Municipality to a punishment due its low budget.

He made remarks yesterday during the handover function at Kisoro Municipal council headquarters.

Kamba who has been working in Kassanda district local government as a Chief Administrative officer said that his transfer to Kisoro municipality is a punishment because of a meager 5 billion shillings budget.

He noted that with his 22 years working experience, he has not met any administrative unit with such a small  budget. He called upon all stakeholders to unite and work as a team to generate more revenues.

Kamba said that he is looking forward to taking Kisoro Municipality to another level so that it can start earning result based finances from the government for performing well. He implored councillors to be cooperative with the technical staff so that they can achieve better results.

With tears of joy all over her face, the outgoing Municipal Town clerk Sharifa Nakintu commended the good working relationship she has had with her technical staff. She noted that she does not regret leaving Kisoro municipality but rather she regrets leaving her best friends she had got in the area within the two years she has been in Kisoro.

She advised the incoming Municipality Town Clerk to collaborate with councillors to ensure that Kisoro municipality is expanded so that the tax base widens. She also encouraged him to sensitize councillors about the importance of developing the mayor’s garden.

She also noted that some of her important achievements include procurement of land for garbage disposal, promoting her staff, beautifying a garden behind the municipal offices among others

 Councilors led by Eunice Rwerekana, who represents elderly women, appreciated Nakintu for being a hardworking lady despite a few challenges. They asked for forgiveness where they wronged her. They welcomed a new town clerk and vowed to have a good working relationship with him.

In related development, Former Kisoro district Chief administrative officer, Onzu Ismail Musa   handed over to a new one, Hajji Badru Mayanja in a function that was held at the Kisoro district council hall.

While handing over, Onzu who was recently transferred to Kapchorwa district local government commended the Kisoro people, technical staff and politicians for being friendly to him since assuming the office in 2020.

He prayed that the same spirit is demonstrated to the incoming CAO for Kisoro to develop.

He warned civil servants who go for extra studies without being study leaves because it creates a gap in service delivery due to frequent absenteeism.

He also asked the incoming CAO to see how to go about the accumulating debts and the issue of recruitments because they may embarrass the district in the near future.

After receiving instruments of work, the new CAO Badru Maija noted that he is a man of action who does not believe in crossing lines. He added that he likes policy implementation and actions, a reason why he made Rukungiri town council win the pearl of Africa award.

The Kisoro district LCV Chairman, Abel Bizimana welcomed the new CAO and wished well to the outgoing one. He commended Onzu for having been a good and humble man which enabled him to work in harmony.

He pledged to continue a good working relationship with the new CAO.
