Police in Kabale District is holding a student of Kabale university for alleged cases of robbery, theft and impersonating to be a lieutenant of UPDF and police personnel.
The suspect has been identified as Kakuru Tumusiime Gaston aged 26 a 3rd year student of Kabale university pursuing Education in Literature in English.
Kakuru is a resident of Rwamabodo Town Council Kajara county Ntungamo District and has been renting in Nyakambu cell southern division Kabale municipality as a student of Kabale university.
Elly Maate the Kigezi Region police spokesperson, said that the suspect allegedly robbed Joseph Nuwagaba Business man resident of Nkombe cell Bushuro parish over 1.5 m Ugx and mobile phone on 1/12/2022 at 09:00pm in Mwisi.
Mate revealed that on 15/4/2023 the suspect robbed a motor vehicle registration number UAT856J premio from Patrick Aharizira.
Maate told www.mknewslink.com today that on 30/4/2023 at the suspect also robbed Naboth Twongyeirwe health worker of Bubare trading centre Rubanda district, a mobile phone, a radio, a watch and ugx 50,000shs.
Maate narrated that, the suspect also stole 4 laptops from fellow students of Kabale university identified as Caroline Dushimana in March 2023, Goreti Taremwa in November 2021, Lillian Nsimenta on 8/12/2022, Precious Ekyamagero on 23/9/2022 and sold them off.
He also stole a phone from Edith Orikyiriza on 15/4/2023 and Muhindo Mutiny 3 phones and phone charger on 15/4/2023 also students of Kabale university.
Maate revealed that it’s further alleged that, they were always three men during the robberies and at times calling himself to be a Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) lieutenant Lt. and was arrested with a shirt similar to that of UPDF madoamadoa.
The cases mentioned above are few among many reported against the suspect.
ASP Maate requested the public that anyone who could have been robbed should report at Cps Kabale for further management while police are still investigating other 2 suspects
