KABAROLE LEADERS, GNBU AGREE ON SKILLING GIRLS TO END CHILD MARRIAGE

Girls Not Brides Uganda (GNBU) have camped in Kabarole to dialogue with district leaders, pupils, teachers and parents on how to end the early marriages.
GNBU, members of an Alliance that brings together 78 Non-Governmental Organizations did these as pre-activities to mark the commemoration of the International Day of the Girl Child to be celebrated on 11th October.
Elizabeth Kasenene the Senior District Education officer observed the need to advocate for promotion of children life skills and ensure they complete all the education cycle.
Diana Kobusinge the District Probation Officer Kabarole called for training of Male Champions and Model Families to spread the gospel of Violence against Children in both families and schools for early marriages to end since males are the perpetrators.
Godfrey Bangirana the coordinator Girls Not Brides Uganda Western region observed that child marriage remains a big issue that calls for awareness creation to change the minds of people and implementers to enforce the laws.
