MUSHANGA PARISH MARKS 80TH ANNIVERSARY

The Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Mackson Oboth, has commended Mushanga Catholic Parish for its enduring contribution to community development and social transformation over the past eight decades.
Oboth, who officiated as the chief guest on behalf of Vice President Jessica Alupo, praised the church leadership and parishioners for implementing initiatives that complement government efforts to improve the welfare of communities.
Addressing hundreds of faithful gathered in Sheema Municipality to mark the parish’s 80th anniversary, Oboth highlighted the partnership between religious institutions and government in addressing poverty and promoting socio-economic development.
Keep “The church has been a reliable partner in collaborating with government to improve household incomes and foster socio-economic stability,” Oboth said.
He noted that faith-based institutions have played a significant role in providing essential services across the country.
“Faith-based institutions have contributed immensely to education, healthcare, social welfare, peace-building, moral formation and community development. In many communities, the church established schools, health facilities and other services at a time when government services were still limited,” Oboth added.
The Speaker also urged young people to take an active role in national development while cautioning them against violence and other activities that could undermine social stability.
