West Ankole diocesan Bishop has directed all lay readers and priests in the diocese to enroll for further studies in theology.
Rt. Rev. Johnson Twinomujuni said that the theological training will help priests to be deep rooted biblically so as to counter pseudo and false teachings that are leading Christians astray.
The Bishop said this kind of trend needs to be reversed to save some Christians that are subscribing to cults not to get entangled into what he called a mess of spiritual fog and confusion as they seek for God’s salvation.
The Bishop said Ankole Western University which he heads as a chancellor has introduced theology and pastoral studies program that lay readers and priests can take advantage to enrich their knowledge in praying and preaching to Christians in order to become spiritually stable.
Ankole Western University has for the first time since its inception awarded degrees to eleven graduates who completed their courses in public administration, social work and administration, science and information technology, office management and secretarial studies.
Bishop Twinomujuni also cautioned the clergy not to involve themselves in politics but should rather bless people aspiring to contest for elective political positions at different levels in the country.
He also urged politicians to unite and work together for the good of society although they are subscribing to different political groups.
