MBARARA: DWELLERS FAIL TO FOLLOW COVID 19 GUIDELINES, AUTHORITIES TO ASK FOR SECOND LOCKDOWN

Mbarara district COVID 19 task force is worried about a looming second lock down due to public failure to comply with the existing guidelines on COVID 19
Addressing the media, the Deputy RDC Mbarara Emmy Katera Turyabagyenyi said that the incident at the hotels is a sign that the virus might now be within Mbarara community.
He said that the increasing levels of laxity coupled with anxiety among the public to move and work freely is worrying.
He revealed that in case they register more positive cases of this nature, they could be forced to ask for a second lockdown in Mbarara city with new stringent measures.
He appealed to the public especially those who might have accessed the hotels to voluntarily go for testing as a measure of stopping the spread of COVID 19 in the community.
Dr. Peter Ssebutinde the Mbarara District Health Officer says tracing and profiling all primary and secondary victims plus their contacts is difficult but worth to do so as to control the spread.
Dr. Celestine Barigye , Director Mbarara regional referral hospital says people have developed a mentality that covid 19 doesn’t exist, ignoring the guidelines.
Mbarara regional refferal hospital has managed 36 cumulative cases with 29 recoveries and currently has 7 cases including one community case picked from TASO village opposite the referral
Last week Police in Mbarara picked two COVID 19 Victims that were hosted in two separate hotels and their primary contacts in three different hotels.
The hotels that have since been closed include Rwampara suites, Leisure park international, African guest house, Golden monkey guest house and one Acacia hotel all found in Kakoba division Mbarara city.
The two cases were; of a driver with Uganda Revenue Authority and a money changer at Mutkura boarder, and the duo have since been put under quarantine at Rwentanga farm institute
