In Kabale
Police in Kabale Municipality yesterday morning intensified operations and arrested over 100 Boda Boda cyclists who were found in the Town without face masks.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson Elly Maate said that the Police carried out the operation after realising that Boda Boda cyclists were defying Presidential directives and Ministry of Health guidelines on Coronavirus pandemic preventive measures.
Maate said that the action of the Boda Boda cyclists was likely to spread the Coronavirus and therefore they had to take action.
Maate noted that people have relaxed by making unnecessary movements without keeping social distance and even not putting on facemasks in public places.
Maate said that some cyclists were found carrying more than one passenger contrary to the Presidential directives.
He said that the operation will continue and also be extended to other districts in Kigezi Sub Region because some people are taking the Coronavirus pandemic as a joke.
