LIVESTOCK QUARANTINE EXTENDED TO IBANDA AFTER FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE SPREADS TO DISTRICT

Quarantine has been imposed on cattle, goats, sheep and transportation of milk from Ibanda banned with effect from Februaryfollowing the outbreak of Foot and Mouth disease in the district.
Dr. Hilary Arinaitwe, the Ibanda District Veterinary Officer (DVO), said the deadly disease has been reported in Kakatsi ward in Bisheeshe division in Ibanda municipality.
He said that the disease can be spread from one farm to another, but his staff has acted first to control the situation before the disease spreads to the neighboring areas that are bordering with Bisheeshe division.
Dr. Arinaitwe asked the farmers, Local Council Officials and the residents in the areas to be vigilant ,keep their eyes open to report to authorities the people they suspect to be ignoring the guidelines.
