UPDF SOLDIER SHOOTS MAN DEAD OVER WOMAN, INJURES THREE OTHERS

A Uganda People’s Defense Forces-UPDF soldier is on run for shooting one person dead and injuring three others.

The suspect is Private Ashraf Luzindana, who is attached to the 19th battalion 2nd Division while the deceased is Robert Muhumuza.

It is alleged that Luzindana picked a quarrel with Muhumuza in a local pub in Lubiri cell Nyamityobora Ward, Mbarara city South on Sunday night.

He reportedly grabbed a gun from his colleague and shot Muhumuza dead.

Major Charles Kabona, the 2nd Division UPDF spokesperson, says that after the incident, the suspect went into hiding.
Apollo Mumanya, an eye witness says the two were fighting for a woman whose husband had gone for duty.
Agnes Oshaba, one of the injured, says that she was crossing the road when a bullet hit her on the leg.

He says two other people got injured but fled for fear of being arrested for violating the curfew time.

However, Maj. Kabona says that they have only managed to trace one person who was injured in the shooting.

Our reporter could not verify the information and during his visit to the hospital, he could not trace any bullet-injured people.
