FARMERS URGED TO EMBRACE LIVESTOCK CENSUS, GIVE CORRECT FIGURES

The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries through Uganda Bureau of Statistics – UBoS is preparing to kick off livestock census exercise in the country.
The exercise which is supposed to be carried out after ten years was supposed to be done last year, but due to the outbreak of corona virus pandemic it was postponed to this year.
Didan Isingoma the District Animal Husbandry Officer – Masindi explains that the exercise was supposed to kick off on 17th this month, but has been postponed till further notice.
Isingoma explains all domestic animals and birds will be counted, and the purpose for the exercise is to know the number of livestock in the country, so easy planning by the government.
The officer has therefore urged farmers to embrace the exercise, and give correct figures of livestock for easy government Planning.
