Rubombora Dan, a member of the Mubiito royal clan, has condemned the Tooro Kingdom Prime Minister for allegedly treating matters concerning the royal family as his personal or family affairs.
Rubombora said that issues concerning the succession of the late Omukama should be handled by the Babiito, the ruling royal clan, and not by kingdom administrators.
He questioned the Prime Minister’s authority to speak about the deceased King’s successor, arguing that the announcement of a new heir should be made by the Omusuga, who is responsible for matters concerning the royal succession.
Rubombora further argued that succession to the Tooro throne is a matter of royal bloodline, claiming that the late King’s uncles, who raised him, were not aware of any heir.
He also said the late King did not leave behind any children.
Meanwhile, Omusuga Charles Kamurasi has also dismissed the Prime Minister’s statements, insisting that Tooro Kingdom has only one official palace.
He said the establishment in Kampala is merely a royal residence and should not be referred to as the kingdom’s palace.
Kamurasi further accused the Prime Minister of making statements that, according to him, are not known to or supported by the royal family.
The disagreement between members of the Babiito royal clan and some kingdom administrators reportedly intensified following the announcement of an alleged heir to the late King a development that, according to members of the royal family, came as a surprise to them.
