By Aggrey Twesigye
In Rwampara—
Rwampara Resident District Commissioner – RDC Emmy Kateera Turyabagyenyi has warned all people in wetlands to vacate as soon as possible or they will be forcefully evicted.
Turyabagyenyi was speaking during the launch of a massive restoration drive of the degraded wetlands in Rwinsinga Ndeija subcounty.
The RDC said that the wetlands have been heavily encroached on by some individuals who have severally been noticed by National Environmental Management Authority -NEMA to vacate the premises but have kept a deaf ear.
He added that the gardens and plantations within the buffer zone have been cleared by the time the two weeks operation comes to an end.
In his remarks, Jeoconious Musingwire the NEMA focal person for South Western Uganda noted that all climatic changes which have come with hazzards are mainly due to destruction of natural resources.
