MBARARA HOSPITAL RECEIVES MORE 1600 DOSES OF ASTRAZENECA; 4 SUCCUMB TO COVID 19 IN ONE NIGHT

Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital has today received another batch of 1600 doses of Astrazeneca.
The hospital director Dr. Celestine Barigye told journalists today at the hospital that with the doses, they will first handle people who are supposed to take their second shot.
Mbarara district and city received 5,450 doses of Astrazeneca COVID 19 jab in the first batch which were later distributed to 5 vaccination Centres at; Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital, Kamukuzi, Mbarara district Headquarters, Mbarara City Health Centre IV, Kakoba Health Centre III and Rubindi Health Centre III.
The district received more 1,830 doses in June from NMS for the five vaccination centres, and the hospital got 600 dozes of the overall second batch.
Meanwhile, Dr. Barigye told www.mknewslink.com reporter that four people at the hospital succumbed to COVID 19 last night.
He added that the four are; a 29 year old male from Ntungamo district who was admitted on the 7th.August.2021,62 year old male from Mbarara city who was admitted on 9th.August.2021,66 year old male who was admitted on 7th.August.2021 and a 73 year old male from Sheema district who was admitted on 5th.August.2021.
According to Dr. Barigye, the hospital currently has 15 patients with COVID 19 related cases on admissions whereas 75 others are under home based care with moderate signs.
