MOTORCYCLIST KILLED IN RUKUNGIRI ACCIDENT

In Rukungiri—

A motorcycle rider yesterday died while another one was injured in an accident at Kihunga village along Rukungiri Ntungamo road.

Kigezi Regional police spokesperson Elly Maate identified the deceased as John Tumwine a 23 year old boda boda rider and resident of Kamuri cell Rwentondo ward Eastern Division Rukungiri District

According to Maate, the rider of motorcycle reg. no UET 228 A knocked UFF194 G from behind and was seriously injured. Both riders were rushed to Nyakibale hospital for treatment but the rider of UET 228 A was pronounced dead at around 1430hrs.

The accident occurred on 21/ 12/2021 around 11:20hrs at Kihunga village along Rukungiri Ntungamo road.

Police visited the scene, both motorcycles were impounded pending IOV inspection.

The dead body is still at Nyakibale hospital mortuary pending postmortem.

The cause of accident was reckless ridding by the deceased.
