BUSHENYI NRM LEADERS OPPOSE AGE LIMIT REMOVAL,LAND BILL

Across section of NRM local leaders in Igara west constituency in Bushenyi district have opposed the proposal to lift age limit from the constitution of Uganda to enable president Museveni stand in the presidential race come 2021.
The leaders composed of LCI flag bearers, councilors at LC 11,111and 5 together with opinion leaders were on Tuesday 29th August 2017 attending Igara NRM constituency conference jointly organized by area MP Raphael Magezi and Mary Karoro; the district woman MP Bushenyi in order to seek peoples’ views about the land amendment bill.
The age limit topic was introduced by the district chairman Jaffari Bassajjabalaba who told the participants that they were free to discuss the proposed bill and show support for president Museveni eligibility to stand in the 2021 presidential poll before inviting people to express their opinion over the matter but majority who talked were not in favor of lifting the age limit from the constitution.
Savio Tumwesigye; the youth chairperson for Kyamuhunga Sub County warned the leaders against tampering with the constitution saying Uganda should learn from what other countries have experienced after altering the constitution.
The Bushenyi district NRM secretary general, Hajji Umar Muhanguzi argued that presidential term limits be reinstated on a condition that someone will be allowed to serve two terms only.
They tasked Raphael Magezi to use his position as MP and proceed on the private members bill and push for the campaign if government is taking long to tackle it.
Raphael Magezi promised to use his position as MP and proceed on the private members bill if government remains silent over the matter in order to raise people’s quest over the matter saying there is no reason for him to fear as long as he has people behind him.
On the government’s proposal to amend article 26 of the constitution so as to allow government to compulsorily acquire land for development projects the local leaders warned the MPs against using their numbers to make amendments that are geared towards stealing land from Ugandans.

Hajji Suleiman Byekwatso, the Kakanju sub county NRM chairperson warned party leaders to distance themselves from the person who proposed the land amendment bill saying his action is sabotaging government.
