KAGADI:
Leaders of Kagadi town council have raised a red flag over the delayed completion of completion of the UGX 22.8Bn Water Project in Kagadi district whose construction started nearly four years ago according to KKCR.
In December 2018, the Ministry of Water and Environment embarked on the construction of a gravity water flow project to benefit residents in Kagadi, Muhorro, Kyenzige and Ruteete town councils.
The contract was awarded to Samcrete Engineers and Contractors’ Construction Company limited.
The construction works funded by African Development Bank-ADB through the Water Supply and Sanitation Program Phase II (WSSP II) was expected to be completed in one year.
However, over three years after the contract was awarded, residents are yet to benefit from the project.
The LC3 chairperson for Kagadi town council Geoffrey Businge commissioning of Kagadi water project was expected before Easter celebrations as promised by the contractor in February this year.
He however, says this has now become a dream to the people of Kagadi district.
Businge was quick to request residents of Kagadi district to remain calm, promising to engage the contractor and the ministry of water on the way forward.
Efforts to get a comment from both the commissioner, Ministry of water and Environment and the SAMCRETE Contractors Engineer were futile as our calls went unanswered.
