MASINDI NRM SUPPORTERS ENDORSE MUSEVENI AS A SOLE CANDIDATE FOR 2026 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS.

NRM party supporters from Masindi district have endorsed President Yoweri Kaguta as the party’s sole candidate in the 2026 general elections in a function to commemorate the district’s World AIDS day for this year held at Booma grounds in Masindi municipality on Tuesday.

The function was graced by the minister for internal affairs Major General Kahinda Otafiire as chief guest, in a motion calling for Museveni’s sole candidature which was moved by Kabakumba Labbwoni Masiko, the party chairperson in the district flanked by the sub county party chairpersons and other party leaders in the district who later unanimously supported motion before signing on the giant banner bearing Museveni’s picture as a gesture.

”Major General, we the NRM leaders from Masindi feel our president and the party chairperson is still strong and the most capable person to lead Uganda and we feel he should continue doing so that and we are here to endorse him as our party’s sole candidate in the coming elections” said Kabakumba.

The other party members who endorsed Museveni’s sole candidature included the woman Member of Parliament for Masindi district Dr.Florence Asiimwe, the former state minister for Bunyoro affairs Eanest Kiiza, the former woman member of parliament Masindi district, Jalia Bintu Lukumu, Masindi district chairperson Cosmas Byaruhanga and his councilors and the mayor Masindi Municipality Ronald Kyomuhendo Businge.

Responding to the endorsement, Minister Otafiire who is also a NRM CEC member, welcomed the leaders’ gesture saying Museveni has led the country well and he is still strong and capable of leading it.

He castigated those criticizing Museveni’s endorsement saying the party members feel that Museveni is the right person to hold their party’s flag in the coming elections and those who are not the party members should wait and support the candidates of their choice.

Otafiire urged Ugandans to work hard so that they can liberate themselves from poverty.

NRM party leaders and supporters from several districts in Western region of the country have also endorsed Museveni’s sole candidature for the 2026 elections.
