The Kabale district elders have accused the Kigezi parliamentary group and local leaders of fighting the operationalization of Kabale tourism city and demanded that the move becomes a reality with immediate effect.
The accusations came during the meeting of elders under their umbrella body Kabale district elders’ forum that was held at Kabale Municipality Main Hall.
Kabale elders’ forum brings together elders from the districts of Kabale and Rubanda.
Led by former Kabale district chairman LC5 Dr. Francis Runumi, they say that leaders are just looking at the boundaries and all Members of parliament are fighting the city because it can affect them because they have already invested in campaigns.
Runumi also accused the local leaders led by district chairmen of Kabale Nelson Nshangabashaija who is ever sending his deputy in order not to be seen on the forefront.
He added that it’s not all about the budget but selfish interests. Runumi said that there is no more waiting and Kabale city must be operational.
Maj. Gen. Sabiiti Timothy Mutebile, the chairperson of Kabale district elder’s forum said that as elders they need a non-political, non-religious and non-sector city for the development of Kigezi region.
He accuses Kigezi politicians of selfishness which has hindered the operationalization of the city
