WHO WILL WIN IGARA WEST MP NRM FLAG; BONIFACE TUGUME, COHEN KYAMPENE OR PAUL KAHIIGI?

Voters of Igara West in Bushenyi district are sharply divided among the top three NRM party candidates and are not yet sure who will win MP NRM party flag.
Mr.Tugume Boniface, Counsel Cohen Amanya Kyampene and Paul Turyamureeeba Kahiigi are the top contenders for the race are neck to neck.
The seat is being occupied by Hon.Mbwatekamwa Gafa who has opted to contest for Mbarara city mayoral seat
On the other hand, there are other over 10 candidates who need to grab the seat but are weak. They are not making any impact on the ground.
MR. BONIFACE TUGUME
He is young and appeals to the youths and has a big financial capacity. He has injected a lot of money in projects like water, electricity, vocational skills to the youths, supporting functions of the constituents like burials, parties extra.
Igara west has 4 sub-counties and 3 town councils; Mr Tugume is born in Kyamuhunga town council, Mr.Kahiigi is born in Kyamuhunga sub-county whereas Cls Cohen Kyampane is born in Kakanju sub-county.
Other sub-counties and town councils are; Nkanga and Nyabubare sub-counties and Kizinda Kigoma and Bitooma town councils.
Mr. Tugume has connections in government because his campaigns of Tugume foundation were launched by the minister for youths and children affairs Hon. Baram Barugahara at Kizinda playground.
CLS COHEN AMANYA KYAMPENE
CLS Cohen is a lawyer and practices in Nairobi Kenya. Sources told www.mknewslink.com MD that he is highly connected to the government of president William Ruto.
He is the first person to declare intentions to contest for Igara west MP seat. He is also financially strong and has done a lot of projects in the constituency like water, electricity, supporting churches and mosques among others through Kyampene foundation.
He is born in a big family in Kakanju sub-county and many family members are successful including his father Mr. Ben Kyampene.
MR. PAUL TURYAMUREEBA KAHIIGI
He is a seasoned politician and has been in the politics of Bushenyi for over 25 years. He was sub-county chairperson for greater Kyamuhunga for one term.
After that he contested against prof. Kabwegyere in 2006 and lost to him but performed excellently. Prof. Kabwegyere told this journalist after the elections that Mr. Kahiigi had a future in Igara west constituency.
He has retired from national water and sewerage corperation as western Uganda public relations officer.
What also gives him advantage over others is that he is the board chairman of KYAPS which is very prominent in the constituency. He is also the chairperson school management committee for st. marys primary school kyamuhunga.
He lost to Willis Bashaasha 2011 and Jafari Basajjabalaba in 2016for Bushenyi district chairman. During these two elections, Mr Kahiigi was popular but according to analysts he lost because he was on FDC ticket when actually voters of Bushenyi district are NRM.
However, what gives him leverage over other candidates is that he on the NRM ticket this time round which voters of Bushenyi and Igara west had requested him to do.
Conclusively, as we wait for voting next month July 2025, the race is between the above three men and the winner will come from them to carry NRM Flag 2025.
