Security in Masindi have arrested 117 believers who have been praying at Canaan Nazarene church , Kyarutanga village Kijunjubwa subcounty in Masindi district.
Speaking to journalists in his office, Masindi RDC who is also district security committee chairman Darius Nandinda revealed that 117 belivers have been arrested last evening in joint security operation which involved RDC, artillery commander, Regional police commander DISO and district police commander.
Nandida says the arrested were been habared by pastor Fred Tumusiime and after screening them, they came to realise those people come from different parts of the country.
Nandida adds that Pastor Tumusiime is habbering belivers from different parts of the country at his church for long posing security risk as some of the people as what he called wrong elements in addition to compromising the sanitation and welfare of people who stay at the church since they have to feed themselves.
Nandida further says, the believers also spend days and nights through the week without what’s working on top of herbbering people with serious health conditions endangering their economic prosperity.
He says following all those, it forced district security committee to come up with resolution to clean up the place and ensure all the people leave immediately and go back where they came from.
He adds that UPDF shall provide means to those who dont have transport to go back to where they came from.
Nandida clarified that the district security committee is not against the pastor and his church stating that the church will remain operating like any other worship place where worshipers go to pray and go home after.
Nandida advised believers against abandoning their homes and work for prayers and also failing to seek for medical attention in preference for prayers saying it hinders their economic progress and endanger their health.
The believers were by press time held at masindi CPC pending for
