Residents of Southern Cell in Central Division, Masindi Municipality were left in shock yesterday afternoon after two children aged between 1 and 4 were electrocuted to death while playing near a furniture workshop.
The deceased children who wouldn’t be identified by press time belonged to Kusemererwa Anita Juliet, a top class teacher at Asaba Nursery and Primary School Masindi and were reportedly playing near the furniture workshop at around 1pm.
Godfrey Musindi, the LC1 Chairperson for Southern Cell narrated that Tom, a tenant, established a furniture workshop and connected live wire on the workshop’s metallic door and the children were electrocuted while playing.
He cautions the community members against illegally extending or connecting electricity from the meter box stressing that the country has lost innocent children who would be of great importance in future.
Joseph Kariwani, OC CID Masindi CPS condemned the act of connecting live wires stating that they would investigate the matter and ensure justice is served.
