HOIMA MOURNS FORMER BUHAGUZI MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT KYAHURWENDA

Former Buhaguzi County Member of Parliament in Hoima district, Tom Kyahurwenda Abwooli has died.
The 60-year-old politician died on Monday at Nsambya Hospital in Kampala where he was admitted, according to his family.
According to Ignatius Besisira, who served with him in the 8th parliament, the deceased had breathing complications and was complaining of abdominal and chest pain.
Mr Besisira, who is a former Buyaga County MP, said Mr Kyahurwenda collapsed at about 10:30 am at Nsambya Hospital and was taken to the Intensive Care Unit and was announced dead at 11:45am.
The family of late Kyahurwenda told www.mknewslink.com that for the past two years, Mr Kyahurwenda has been battling high blood pressure.
In December 2016, he was admitted at Nsambya where he spent over a month and since then, he has been frequenting the hospital for medical reviews.
According to Mr Besisira, Kyahurwenda is survived by 14 children and two wives.
The family has not yet announced the burial programme but his body is due to be transported to his ancestral home in Kabwooya Sub-county in Hoima District.
Mr David Maxwell Kaboyo, the Hoima District NRM secretary general, said that the deceased was a committed and hardworking NRM cadre adding that he was also a good mobiliser.
Kyahurwenda was elected as Buhaguzi MP in 2001 after defeating Brig Matayo Kyaligonza.
He was re-elected in 2006 and served until 2011 when he lost the seat to Mr Julius Junjura Bigirwa.
Mr Kyahurwenda attempted a comeback in 2016 but he lost the NRM primaries to Mr Daniel Muhairwe, the incumbent Buhaguzi MP.
