A number of Boda Boda riders are struggling to implement the standard operating procedures (SOP’s) as they resumed their operations on Monday morning following the relaxation of the nationwide lockdown announced in March to contain the spread of the covid 19
www.mknewslink.com reporter moved around Mbarara city to see how the riders were complying with the SOP’s but found only a handful of the riders complying with the SOP’s.
Some of the Boda Boda riders in the areas of Kakoba, Kisenyi, Nyamitanga and the city center had sanitizers ,helmets and had face masks on but were not taking records of the passengers.
Yasin Mugerwa ,a Boda Boda rider told www.mknewslink.com that he tried asking for contacts and names of his customers but all in vain
Martin Mugume, another rider in Mbarara said that they might try to fulfill other requirements apart from recording the details of their customers
He explained that his first customer refused to provide her details adding that she told that she has no phone and national identity card.
Last week, President Yoweri Museveni allowed Boda Boda riders to resume operations under stringent guidelines.
Museveni, said that each of the riders would be required to wear a helmet, face mask, posses sanitizer to sanitize their passenger seat and register the details of all passengers plus every Boda Boda stage providing a temperature gun
