President Yoweri Museveni has today evening March 05, 2017 fired Inspector General of Police General Kale Kayihura and Security minister Henry Tumukunde.
The President in a shocking move replaced Gen Kayihura with his Deputy AIGP Okoth Ochola and Minister Tumukunde with former army commander Gen Elly Tumwiine.
Kayihura has been at the helm of the Police Force since 2005 when he replaced now Works Junior Minister Gen Katumba Wamala, while Minister Tumukunde was appointed Security Minister in 2016.
The two officials Gen Kale Kayihura and Minister Tumukunde have been on log heads for many years..
This fight which has been out in the media, reportedly goes back to 2005 when Gen Kale Kayihura arrested Tumukunde for making salacious political comments.
At the close of last week, President came out for the first time to address this bad blood, during a high level meeting at State House Entebbe.
With the army and the Police openly clashing, when they are constitutionally mandated to complement each other, many observers have come out to blame the skyrocketing crime in the country on the two men.
