BUHWEJU RELIGIOUS DIVISIONS COST NRM ALL PARLIAMENTARY SEATS—LUMUMBA
party in the last general elections.
Kasule said if the trend is not reversed NRM will completely lose the
district to opposition.
Speaking during district celebrations to mark NRM day at Nsika town
concil play ground the Secretary General said leaders in the district
undermine each a lot on issues of religion and the practice is
creating negative impact on development and harmony.
Kasule who cautioned the leaders against shifting the blame to
ordinary people in the area castigated them for praising president
Museveini in fulfilling most of the pledges to the district yet his
support in Buhweju has since 2011 general elections reduced by ten
percent.
She said such a trend is a serious betrayal to themselves because of
not being sincere to their cause as people who supported the NRA
liberation struggle adding that this is the reason why some senior
politicians in the region had rejected the idea of splitting Bushenyi
into smaller districts.
In 2016 general elections all NRM flag bearers for two parliamentary
seats were not elected by the people thus creating opportunity for
Francis Mwijukye FDC and Oliva Koyekyenga independent to win the
elections.
Alison Ayetoranire and Ephraim Biraaro were the NRM flag bearers for
the district woman MP and the Buhweju county MP seats respectively.
