BUNYORO FALLEN CHIEF LAID TO REST IN KAKUMIRO

Owek Njalebuza Erisa, the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom chief for Bugangaizi west district who passed on Sunday has been laid to rest on Tuesday.
The 86 old chief who succumbed to cancer was buried at his ancestral home in Kyabasaija Sub County in Kakumiro district.
Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom held a special session to pay last respects to the deceased, and the special sitting was presided over by the Kingdom speaker Omutalindwa Isaac Kalembe Akiiki.
The Kingdom Prime Minister Owek Andrew Byakutaga Ateenyi who led the Kingdom delegation described late Njalebuza as a hard working officer who dedicated his life to serve, and transform people.
“The deceased fought in the war to return the counties of Buyaga, and Bugangaizi which had been annexed by the British colonialists to Buganda,” Owek. Byakutanda added.
The Bunyoro Premiere also added, the Late Njalebuza joined the struggle from 1951 to 1964.
The deceased has been a retired teacher, and prominent commercial farmer who regularly taught people about Bunyoro culture.
The Prime Minister informed the mourners that as an appreciation for his services, His Royal Majesty Dr Solomon Gafabusa Iguru I, the Omukama of Bunyoro awarded him the Kabalega medal and appointed him as a County Chief.
