In Hoima—-
Moses Aguuda, the National Unity Platform (NUP) Coordinator Bunyoro was Thursday arrested for aiding a demonstration in Hoima City.
Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson asserted that Aguuda and his colleagues staged an unlawful demonstration over construction of Persia road in Hoima City.
“They were demonstrating over King Star building which was constructed along the road, the business man refused to pave the way for the road construction but their demonstration was not lawful,’’ he said.
Hakiza further told this online news publication that for one to carry out a peaceful demonstration he or she is supposed to have written to the office of the Inspector General of Police 15 hours before its time which wasn’t the case with Aguuda and the team.
The police mouthpiece also explained that they didn’t get any letter notifying them of the demonstration adding the suspects went ahead and burnt vehicle tyres which is against the law.
“They are in our custody and they will be charged with inciting violence, and damaging government roads,” he said.
Hakiza also warned the public against staging unlawful demonstrations.
