The Bushenyi-Ishaka municipality councilors have finally resolved to stop all activities being done at Kajurugo land including the structure in the said land.
In the council meeting that was held today 10th June 2019 at Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipal hall, councilors decided to stop activities being carried on the above said land where they said that procedures that were followed to rent the land were wrong.
Councilors have given one week ultimatum to Town Clerk and enforcement team to demolish the structure in the land and stop activities being done on it and failure do so within this period they will petition to permanent secretary and Minister of Local government for intervention.
This comes after three weeks ago councilors had petitioned to Bushenyi Resident District Commissioner Jolly Tibemanya saying that municipality land was being taken away under unclear circumstances and asking him to intervene in the matter and nothing was done.
However the Town Clerk Bushenyi-Ishaka municipality Didas Muhanguzi has told the councilors that the decision they have made might cost the municipality too much.
On the other hand the Mayor Bushenyi-Ishaka municipality Jackson Kamugasha who did not second the decision said that councilors would have come and sit with the executive to correct mistakes that were done in the agreement rather than stopping activities on the land.
He added that a division is a local government on its own and they had a right to rent the land.
