The former Masindi district production officer BlastoByabakama is dead.
According to his younger brother Christopher Katalikawe, Byabakama died yesterday at Kitara medical center in Masindi Municipality.
Katalikawe, who is also the head of the family, said he was diagnosed with throat cancer which killed him.
Katalikawe said he will be buried at his home in Kijweka cell Karujubu division in Masindi district.
Byabakama retired in 2017 after serving Masindi district local government for over 25 years.
He however died while still demanding his retirement package. He even sued the district together with two other former district workers but later settled the matter out of court after the district accepted to pay him.
His money was among the over 200 million shillings which was diverted in 2016. The money was meant for gratuity for the three officers including Milton Mugungu the former District Community Development Officer, Blasto Byabakama the former District Production officer and late Irene the former Kimengo sub county community development officer.
Meanwhile Byabakama’s family has released the program for his burial arrangements.
According to the program that was seen by our reporter, the body spent last night in Kijura cell from where it will be taken to Masindi district council chambers today for the last respect between 10 am and midday and thereafter taken to Karujubu church of Uganda for a requiem mass in the afternoon.
The body will after be taken to his home in Kijweka cell in Karujubu division in the evening where it will spend a night before being buried on Tuesday.
