Unknown assailants on Thursday night raided Kashekye Village in Bunyarigi ward Bushenyi Ishaka municipality hacking a man to death before critically injuring his wife.
The deceased has been identified as Bernard Byaruhanga, a resident of the same area. Byaruhanga’s wife was also injured during the attack.
It is alleged that on Thursday night at around 9:00pm unknown assailants armed with machetes raided the home of Byaruhanga and cut him on the head, face and neck. They later turned to his wife whom they also hacked leaving her with injuries.
The two Byaruhanga and his wife were all rushed in critical condition to KIU teaching hospital for treatment but Byaruhanga did not survive while his wife is currently receiving treatment.
Kanyamunyu Deogratious, the area LCI Chairperson told our reporter in an interview that they were alerted by the deceased’s wife who found them in the trading center of Kashekye while bleeding after an attack.
Kanyamunyu said though residents rushed to the scene to help, they found when the assailants had already fled.
Police were alerted and investigations have already commenced.
