Ambassador Moses Sebunya asked students to value and respects cultures of their fellows in order to foster social development.
Moses said while presiding over cultural gala competitions at the International national University of East Africa found in Kabalagala a Kampala suburb.
He also emphasized that it’s paramount for each group of people to cherish their cultures adding that it helps in restoring and maintaining good morals.
The competitions were won by the Ugandan students followed Burundi and Rwanda respectively.
The competition included showcasing cultural wears and dances among others.
According to Ms Barlow Alice the minister of gender and culture in the university, other countries that participated include; Nigeria, South Sudan, Tanzania, DRC, India among others.
The function was also attended by other neighboring universities and the neighboring community.
The institution is owned by Ali Hassan a tycoon in kampala and East Africa at large.

Police in Masindi district has arrested two parish chiefs over alleged fraud.
Richard Bamuleke, of Nyabyeya parish in Budongo sub county and Cate Kyalisiima, of Bikonzi parish in Bwijanga sub county were picked by detectives while attending a revenue mobilization meeting at the district headquarters.
The duo was arrested on Friday 27th April 2018 on the orders Kanaginagi Ateenyi, the secretary finance Masindi district who was chairing the meeting.
The Finance committee being chaired by Salama Kugonza, and the district revenue officer, Moses Kalyegira went to the field for a monitoring, collection and management of revenue in the lower local governments.
Presenting the findings, Kugonza indicated that parish chiefs take long to remit the revenue leading to misuse of funds and under declaration.
She also said they discovered that Richard Bamuleke, the parish chief for Nyabyeya parish had never remitted to the sub accountant since June 2017 which delay resulted into mismanagement of funds collected amounting to UGx 2700,000.
Kugonza also indicated that the parish chief of Bikonzi parish in Bwijanga sub county, Cate Kyalisiima, collected UGx 3300,000 from Casino machines but remitted on UGX 990.000. She also said that Kyalisima was found with duplicate receipts.
Cosmas Byaruhanga, the chairperson LCV Masindi distrct, explains that as Masindi district council they are not going to tolerate such acts at all saying that such people have caused a lot of problems to the district saying such acts have crippled service delivery.

One of the children of the late Anna Tumwesigye Makaru Miss Marion Murungi today afternoon April 21, 2018 openly told mourners in Busiibo Sheema municipality western Uganda that the death of her mother was as a result of unprofessional inspector general of Government’s investigations and tribalism.

She added these two tribalism and threats by IGG staff played a big part in the escalation of her health which was always threatened by high blood pressure and diabetes.

“My mum one time told me that in the course of the investigations, a man called Egesa noted that even if my mum did everything, she could not survive that investigations” Marion told mourners as she cried.

There have been a growing tribal strong differences emerging between the Baganda and the Banyankole. Baganda warning Banyankole that as soon as Museveni leaves power, all what they have in Buganda would be destroyed.

The minister of innovations science and technology Dr. Elioda Tumwesigye who was the chief mourner directed the assistant commissioner in charge of secondary education Mr. Mondo Kyateka to critically investigate the issues at Kyambogo college that led to the death of Late Anna Tumwesigye.

Dr. Elioda also pleaded to meet the education minister Janet Kataha Museveni over the matter. He warned investigators from IGG not to be tormentors but professional investigators.

The preacher of the day and Bishop of Ankole diocese Dr. Sheldon Mwesigwa warned Ugandans against practicing tribalism and especially in schools.

“The headmaster at the school I supervise Mbarara high school is a mukiiga and Mbarara high school was one of best in O’level results 2017 and am comfortable with him. Let us leave tribe a side and do development” Bishop Sheldon told mourners before he started preaching.

The late Anna Tumwesigye was born 56 years ago and was happily married to Ben Makaru and left with him four children.

Judiciary has been asked to allow government prisons authorities to produce suspects in court while on handcuffs as a measure to prevent them from escape.

The call was made by the greater Masaka Regional Prisons Commander; Kenneth Mugabiirwe, who said that allow high profile criminals should be handcuffed while in court docks since it has emerged that they can escape.
Mugabiirwe was speaking to journalists after the police had arrested one Musa Galiwango; one of the suspects who escaped from Masaka High Court last month.

Galwango was arrested last night from Rwashamire Ntungamo where he had been hiding since he escaped from Masaka high court on 1st March this year.
Samson Kasasiira Rwizi region Police spokesperson said that police trailed him for almost a week and on the time of his arrest he tried to run away but police shot him and is now receiving treatment at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital and will be handed over to prisonsafter discharge.
At the time of his arrest he was found with a Pistol gun with no ammunitions and a suspected stolen motor vehicle Bajaj Boxer Reg. No.UAP 064A which is not at Mbarara central Police station.
Galiwango’s colleague Muhammad Kiddawalime whom they escaped together was last week killed by a mob in Mukoko Village, Kalungu District as he tried to break into someone’s a house.

Police in Bushenyi are holding four suspects over a murder of one Geoffrey Mucunguzi 57 alias ‘Boy’ a resident of Nyakahita ii, Mazinga ward Nyakabirizi division in Bushenyi–Ishaka municipality as investigations are going on.

According to Martial Tumusiime the greater Bushenyi police spokes person, Mucunguzi a casual laborer was murdered yesterday 13th April 14, 2018 at around mid night from the house of one Kyomugisha Juliet 30 his concubine and his body drowned in a well.

Kyomugisha who is a prime suspect was also arrested and is being detained at Bushenyi police.

Kyomugisha also a resident of Nyakahita is known to have been in relationship with Mucunguzi and the later used to be seen in the former’s home several times.

Tumusiime, told www.mknewslink.com, that Mucunguzi’s murder could have allegedly resulted from competing with other men for Kyomugisha.

Angry residents of Rushebeya village, in Kabale District have invaded and destroyed the home of one God Kabatereine before killing his livestock, chicken and injuring his wife Robinah Bansekwire 55.
Residents accused kabatereine of allegedly taking part in the murder of Wilson Karisokye; the former area LC1 Chairperson.
Karisokye former Chairperson LC1 Rushebeya village was murdered on September 24th, 2017.
Mean while Police in Kabale are holding 31 people for allegedly taking law in their hands and they will face charges of criminal trespass and malicious damage.
According to Kigezi region police spokes person, Elly Mate, the suspects include; Denis Tumanyomwe, Norman Tayebwa, Simpson Farao, Wilber Bandeke ,Simpson Gad ,Lauben Byaruhanga, Simon Turuhabwe, Kenneth Mwesigye, Simpson Tindimwebwa, Bruce Ngabirano, Dan Owamani, James Rukundo, Gad Arineitwe, Lauben Kyampeire, Martin Mushana, Elijah Kayonde, Gilbert Tusasibwe, Rogers Orikiriza, Frank Friday, Ambrose Kundikunda, Edison Turyamwijuka, Moses Kamwesiga, Alex Kabuzi, Jenifer Tiharihomuringi, Loyda Tumuheki, Jackline Safari, Afia Tayebwa and Brenda Kyomugisha among others. All the suspects are residents of Buranga parish in Kamuganguzi sub county Kabale District.
Maate says that the situation was calmed down by anti riot police that fired live bullets in the air. He also says that all the suspects are being held at Kabale police station.

The town clerk for Bushenyi- Ishaka municipality Mr. Edward Kiwanuka has failed to implement the council resolution of interdicting three staff members who include the municipal engineer, Mr. Deus Baingana, the municipal treasurer, Mr. Jackson Muhwezi and the municipal Procurement officer Mr. Roberto, following the court petition by the trio against the resolution

The council chaired by Milton Kasibure, on 7th march 2018 voted to interdict the three officers on grounds of diverting Ug.sh.336m road funds to their personal dealings.

The council resolved that since the trio were all involved in the process, they should all be interdicted.

Mr. kiwanuka confirmed this an exclusive interview managing editor www.mknewslink.com at Savana Hotel In Ishaka town.

He thus revealed that he is consulting the stakeholders and government agencies on how to implement the resolution.

He also said that he is consulting the solicitor general on the issue of declaring the resolution as null and void as demanded by the accussed.

The council is expected to sit tomorrow April 13, 2018 and this issue will be discussed about among others.

Mr. kiwnuka also revealed that they are waiting for a report from the inspector general of government which is expected very soon to build more basis ave the interdition done openly and clearly .

Kampapa International University (KIU)western campus has lost head of Pathology; Prof. John Wilson Rubaku Rwomushana who succumbed to a stroke at the University teaching hospital in Ishaka town, Bushenyi district.

Rwoomushana has also been serving as Senior Presidential advisory on HIV/AIDs.

Family members say the 81 year old passed away at the university’s teaching hospital on Sunday morning.

He hails from Kirigime southern division Kabale municipality.

Rukungiri municipality councilors have resolved to resume levying street parking fees in the town in financial year 2018/19 after it is reported to have hit a dead end last year.

Councilors reached at the resolution during the municipality council financial budget meeting held on 28th march 2018 at Rukungiri Christ the king church.

The councilors agreed to begin community sensitization on street
parking fees in 4th quarter since their emphasis has been on revenue
mobilization for other sources which they say should start in April so
that to encourage the community to pay and get better service
delivery.
Last year unremarkable misunderstanding erupted between Rukungiri
Municipality authorities and business community over the issue of
levying street parking fees after both parties failed to agree on the
matter.
The business community was claiming that the introduction of parking
fees on Rukungiri roads is unfavorable to their business and impacts
on their marginal profits since it affects even their customers.
This forced the business community to call the then minister for security
then Lt. Gen Henry Tumukunde to intervene in the matter.

In the meeting between municipality authorities and business community chaired by Gen. Tumukunde suspended the levying of the street parking fees,arguing that both the Municipality authorities and traders needed each other and should find ways of harmonizing their differences without resorting to violence and since then it has been on hold.
However, the Town clerk Rukungiri Municipality; Lilian Kobusingye
informed councilors that like any other municipal authority if they
are to create revenue sources that will help in the service delivery
they have to first mobilize, sensitize and encourage the
community on the benefits of paying taxes.

Former Security minister Lt. Gen. (Rtd) Henry Tumukunde has asked Ugandans to use the Easter holidays to reflect on their lives.
Tumukunde, who recently lost his ministerial position that he had only served in for one year, stated that Ugandans should take it upon themselves to reflect on the significance of the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made by dying on Cross.
“May we all take it upon ourselves to reflect upon our own lives, the significance of that sacrifice and the eternal reward that awaits those who live by an unshakeable creed of faith,” he said in a tweet last evening.
He added: “May God bless you all and may we, in turn, take this time out to be grateful.”
