HOIMA:

There is panic and fear in Masindi district after a resident died vomiting blood.
Mr. Stephen Mugenyi died on Sunday evening at Hoima Regional Referral Hospital.
The deceased was a resident of Kyatwenge Village in Pakanyi Sub County Buruli Constituency Masindi District.
Mr. Moses Kyahurwa the area chairperson asked for public calmness and advised the public to avoid congested places as they wait for the results from the health experts.
He however said that Mugenyi’s relatives disclosed that he {Mugenyi} has been battling with ulcers.
The Masindi District Acting Health Officer Dr. Jino Abiriga said that the deceased was last week admitted at Masindi District General Hospital and diagnosed with ulcers.

”Mugenyi started vomiting blood at Masindi district general hospital last week and was rushed to Hoima Region where he passed on last evening,” he said.

The health expert refuted the allegations of Ebola outbreak in the district saying that they are waiting for samples collected from the corpse.
”We are waiting for samples taken to Uganda Virus Research Institute, but the deceased has been battling with ulcers,” he said.

A 3-year-old toddler was on Tuesday 15th Nov.2022 reported dead after a house he was in was carried away by floods following a heavy downpour.

The innocent toddler has been identified as Wilson
Amanyire a pupil at Mama Barbra Nursery school at Kajiyangoma Church and son of Atuhire Shilah and Byaruhanga Edson both residents of Kikondera village in Bushura Parish in Kirima sub county.

According to ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police mouthpiece, the incident occurred on 15th November 2022 evening.

Maate said that they visited the scene, recorded statements from eyewitnesses, retrieved the body from soil and handed it over to relatives for burial.

The incident was registered at Kanungu District Central Police Station under SD 15/16/11/2022.

Others affected by floods according to Elly Maate include; Ntegyerize Ruth and Sanyu Edson both resident of the same area whose banana plantations were destroyed.

Butuuro Financial Services yesterday made visits to different schools and Health Centres in Bushenyi district as the institution celebrated 15 years of service.
Members led by their patron Mr. Pison Mugizi visited; Kibare, Bushenyi demonstration primary schools, Plus two high school and Bushenyi health centre IV where they planted trees, donated books plus pens to students and pampers plus soap to patients and mothers.
Another group led by the chairman board Mr. Benson Barigye Mbugane also visited Kyabugimbi health centre IV, Irembezi, Nyamiko and Bushenyi primary schools giving out the same items.

At Iremebezi primary school, the treasurer Mr. Henry Bamwine pledged to make uniforms for three pupils who had no school uniforms while the credit manager Mr. Komunda paid two terms’ school fees for one of the needy pupils and pledged to continue paying for him.
Speaking to our reporter at Kyabugimbi H/C IV the chairman board Mr. Barigye noted that the activities were aimed at giving back to their clients as Butuuro financial services marked 15 years in service.
He added that they decided to give out trees to their clients and plant more at institutions since their 15 years were being celebrated under the theme “Community service by prioritizing Environmental Conservation/protection”

The chief guest Derrick Kabura Baimukye Bushenyi Ishaka municipality MP was represented by Seith Murari the chairman of the Abahumuza development group a volunteer organization that has been at the forefront of cleaning R. Rwizi.

Giving his speech at the celebrations held at main offices in Nyakabirizi,the general Manager Butuuro financial services who has worked with the institution for the last 15 years Peter Tumuhimbise noted that the 15th birthday was worth celebrating for an institution which started in 2007 with two employees, a table and two chairs but now has 42 staff, four branches with a magnificent building that accommodates head offices.
He added that their total assets stand at 11.9 billion shillings, with a membership of 12,596
The patron Pison Mugizi attributed their success to creativity and innovativeness citing out that their boda boda loan, health insurance and Mwezikye programs were second to none in the whole country.

Hoima city council has today passed a resolution halting Buliisa district or any other part of Bunyoro from seceding from Bunyoro kitara kingdom.
The motion was moved by Hon. Sylvia Balyesiima Nalumaga the leader of government business hoima city council seconded by Hon.Achilis Kiiza the secretary for health.

Brian Kaboyo the mayor for Hoima city revealed that the issue of Buliisa breaking off from Bunyoro kitara kingdom is the interest of a few people who have their personal interests to make them bigger than Bunyoro yet Bunyoro has existed before those bringing such ideas.

Kaboyo said they have lived in harmony with the Bagungus without any problem so those who are saying they are being sidelined it’s not true that’s why they have decided to come out as a city to say NO and stay united as one Bunyoro.

Edward Isingoma the speaker of Hoima city council exposed that as council they have pronounced themselves condemning the whole act of Buliisa or any part of Bunyoro from splitting from Bunyoro kitara kingdom reason being if one of them breaks away it would mean they have set a precedence for other entities to break away from the kingdom.

Isingoma said the unity of Bunyoro kitara is the strength of Bunyoro in terms of bargaining for services thus adding that if there are issues that members of Buliisa are finding uncomfortable with but these are issues that can be discussed as members of one family.

He stressed that in addition to the Bunyoro kitara council that thinks and plans for the future of the kingdom, as city council they are also a cooperate body and their mandate comes from that cooperate body because they are elected by the people so they speak on their behalf.

During the same council meeting, the council also gave Hoima city authority two weeks’ ultimatum to advertise the vacant positions at the city publicly since it has been overdue so that people are called for interviews thus to feel the work load gap at the city.

The bishop of west ankole Diocese, rt. Rev. Johnson Twinomujuni has backed Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa’s firm position on homosexuality and abortion, describing both practices as unchristian.

Bishop Twinomujuni, a vocal cleric and a critic of homosexuality also praised Tayebwa’s resolve to protect the Ugandan and Church values plus moral fiber intact amid mounting pressure from the western world.

“We can’t thank our dear Rt. Hon. Tayebwa enough!! It takes more than gallantry to be that bold and solid amidst such a [ACP-EU] meeting,” Bishop Twinomujuni wrote in What’sApp group ‘West Ankole Diocese’ containing church and other leaders who hail from the diocese.

“Those claps in the background are evidence, and so should give us confidence, that we have many more in the world whose moral fiber is still intact. In the struggle against perversion from Godliness, we are not alone! Human wrongs should never be upheld as rights! Nobody has a right to do wrong,” the cleric added.

Last week, Tayebwa made Uganda’s position against homosexuality very clear at the 61st session of the African, Caribbean and Pacific States Parliamentary Assembly and 42nd Session of the ACP-European Union Joint Parliamentary Assembly (ACP-EU JPA) in Maputo, Mozambique

“I heard someone saying that LGBT, Homosexuality and Abortion are human rights, which must be respected universally, I just want to assure you, they can never be accepted in Uganda. I’m the Deputy Speaker of Parliament and I can assure you that the Parliament I lead will never pass laws that are against our values,” Tayebwa said receiving thunderous applause from delegates.

Tayebwa also maintained that Ugandan values can never be exchanged for Western funding, and insisted that, “it can never be accepted in Uganda”.

Tayebwa was responding to calls by the European Union under the Post Cotonou agreement to respect abortion, homosexuality and LGBTQ as human rights that must be respected universally.

“We have discovered that with the Post Cotonou agreement, there are hidden clauses concerning human rights. Clauses to do with sexuality, promotion of LGBT/homosexuality and clauses to do with abortion,” he said.

“We are a society that is not ready for homosexuality and we are a society that is not ready for abortion. As Africa, we believe that the institution of the family is at the core of whatever we are doing,” Tayebwa said adding that, ’the EU is demanding that we take a certain root, they should also know the character of our society’.

Religious leaders under the Inter Religious Council of Uganda, the umbrella association of religious bodies in the country have previously asked Parliament to block attempts that seek to promote homosexuality, abortion and LGBTQ practices

Police in Kabale district are investigating circumstances under which a motor vehicle knocked dead unidentified man adult Pedestrian.

According to the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate, the hit and run fatal accident involving unknown motor vehicle occurred today the 6th of November,2022 at about 03:30am at Omukirindi Butobere along Kabale Mbarara highway in Kabale District

Maate told journalists today that the main Cause of the accident was not yet established.

Police were notified, visited the scene, body removed and taken to Kabale referral hospital mortuary for postmortem.

The case of hit and run accident was registered at Kabale Central Police station under reference number TAR 115/2022.

Road accidents are on rise especially during this period as the country approaches Christmas season.

From October 1 to October 29, there were 1,378 accidents reported on various highways throughout the nation, of which 227 were fatal, 705 were serious, and 446 were minor. There were 1,232 victims in these accidents, and 257 of them died and 975 were injured.

The 12 Bushenyi Ishaka municipal council councilors that illegally censured their deputy mayor Mr. Joel Nkole are scheduled to pay 200 million each to Mr. Nkole as damages.
According to facts available, the solicitor general Counsel Betty Karungi Gafabusa wrote to Bushenyi councilors warning them not at all to censure the deputy mayor.
He further warned that if they go ahead and go against her advice, each councilor will handle the repercussions personally.
DEPUTY MAYOR JOEL’S LAWYER DEUS KAMUGISHA, ISSUES INTENTION TO SUE, COUNCILORS SWEATING
Going by the above background, Mr. Joel Nkole has issued intention to sue the 12 councilors for libel and each councilor is required to pay 200m to Mr Nkole or be sued.

A solicitor general is the chief legal advisor of government where Bushenyi Ishaka municipal council falls however the chief petitioner one Juma Matovu asked the mayor Richard Byaruhanga, Town clerk Mr. Mukobe during the fateful council sension not at all to tell them about the solicitor general. “We are independent. How can the solicitor general come in here?
They successfully censured the deputy mayor illegally who is highly educated and as well highly connected.

In Bushenyi—
National Water and Sewerage Corporation board headed by hon. Steven Basalilwa have today toured many projects in greater Bushenyi including Kitagata world bank funded project that is already complete.
They toured Warugo water project at the border of Kyamuhunga, Kakanju and Bitooma sub counties.
According to the area manager NWSC Eng. Sam Kiggundu, Warugo project will cost 11.8 Billion shillings.
He added that project will be completed in 18 months and assemblance of materials is already in progress.
The site Eng. Kenneth Nuwamanya told board and Bushenyi leaders that the contract was signed in August and the project will commence soonest.

Among the board members was; Can. Josephine Kasya the first female district chairman in Uganda for Kanungu who was very much concerned with when the project will be completed and she was ably answered by site manager Nuwamanya that it will take only 18 months.
Warugo water project will serve Bitooma town council, Kyamuhunga sub county and town council, Kakanju sub county then the balance will go to Ishaka town.
The capacity of project, according to Eng. Sam Kiggundu is 2.5 million litres per day.
Eng. Kiggundu noted that they need more 1.8 million litres to supply the entire Bushenyi district to 100%.

Nile breweries double cabin vehicle has today evening crashed into a building on liberation road Bushenyi town.
The vehicle registration no. UBE 739D which was parked at former Trends inn drove itself into the building of Godfrey Owakubaruho alias Manager.
According to eye witnesses, the vehicle was poorly parked in a free gear and therefore the driver of the vehicle is to blame for the accident.
Sources say the Nile breweries vehicle had come for burial of Rev. Fr. Bashobora’s grandson Cassias Tumwine.
By press time, the vehicle was being towed to Bushenyi central police station.
Counsel Michael Kasenene the lawyer for Owakubaruho told www.mknewslink.com that he will ensure that his client is duly compensated all that he has lost.

The Member of Parliament for Igara East Michael Mawanda Maranga has revealed that normal malnutrition levels should be 0% to 29%.
This is according Bushenyi district nutrition focal person Ms. Nancy Nyamyeya.
Hon. Mawanda noted that it’s high time Bushenyi doubled its efforts on nutrition such that the vice is reduced to zero.
The above and many others were revealed on Friday at Kyeizooba play ground on world food day presided over Michael Mawanda Maranga.
He urged the community to engage in value addition of their products that they produce so that they can get more money like how Kituzi processes herbs to result into soft drinks.

He added that 40% of people in Bushenyi lack enough food to feed their families.
He said with the Parish Development model, people should work hard to eliminate 39% poor Ugandans.
He cautioned residents to be alert towards Ebola as it has so far reached Kampala and is likely to come to Bushenyi if serious measures are not taken.
The deputy RDC Bushenyi Rosemary Atuhaire warned residents of Bushenyi to avoid domestic violence
Senior Probation Officer Faith Betega said she is overwhelmed by gender based cases involving relatives such as parents who sleep with their own children as well as neighbors defiling their children.
She noted that domestic violence is at its peak in Bushenyi district with family members fighting which is dangerous for a growing country like Uganda.
