Residents in Kakoba Central Cell in Mbarara city south division were Saturday afternoon shocked after they found one of their own dead inside a house in Kakoba Central cell.

The deceased has been identified as 32 -year-old Patience Kiconco a resident of Itaara Parish in Rubaya Sub county , Mbarara District.

According to the Kakoba Central cell LCI chairperson, Zaamu Kaggwa, the deceased has been renting in Kakoba Central cell for three months and is believed to have died on the night of Friday.

Ms. Kaggwa added that the deceased’s house help on Saturday afternoon came to check on her but found when she had locked herself inside her house.

This prompted her to call the land lord who opened the door only to find Kiconco lifeless.

Mr. Saja Iddi the deceased’s brother revealed that he last talked to Kiconco on Friday and she seemed fine but he was shocked after receiving a call yesterday that his sister had passed on .

He however added that the deceased had health complications by the time of her demise and she left a one year old baby boy.

By press time, police from Mbarara central police station had condoned off the scene and taken the body to Mbarara regional referral hospital for a postmortem.

According to Nkyeire Richard/ Chad, they had given up on government because there was no money released.
Residents of Ruhandagazi cell, Central division Bushenyi Ishaka municipality on 1st Oct.2022 morning woke up with their pangas and hoes to rehabilitate their road after government failed to release road fund in the first quarter.
Led by Richard Nkyire a.k.a Chad, Residents began from the main road between peak hotel and police clearing the road with their hoes and pangas.

Nkyire advised Ugandans to embark on Burungi bwanse since the government is in financial dilemma.

During the Obote II government, people would gather to clean and put up their own facilities such as hospitals, schools and roads but the current government discouraged it, they now wait for government Etuyambe.

The residents of Ruhandagazi were joined by the central division deputy speaker Kijana Man Omutuze who doubles as a presenter at BFM.
Kijana Man picked a hoe and joined the team but called upon the entire country and Bushenyi Ishaka in particular to ensure that they clear their roads.

Charles Mwebembezi the area chairman LCII urged residents and Ugandans at large to be patient with the government as they meanwhile do their own community work.

An angry mob in Mbarara City on Tuesday lynched a man accused of killing his wife.

The mob victim has been identified as Vincent Nyirarubanda 30 years old trader dealing in clothes and a resident of Rubiri cell, Nyamityoobora ward in Mbarara city.

The mob ganged up against Nyirarubanda accusing him of cutting the neck of a yet to be identified lover in her late 20’s at about 09:00Am on Tuesday morning.

Asaph Muhanguzi a neighbor to the family told this reporter that the couple had a serious quarrel on Tuesday morning that generated into a serious fight.

ASP Samson Kasasira the Rwizi police mouthpiece confirmed the two incidences adding that the two bodies of the deceased are lying at Mbarara hospital mortuary.

Kasasira told www.mknewslink.com that the residents turned up against Nyirarubanda beating him severally but fortunately police from Mbarara central police station swung into action and rushed him to Mbarara regional referral hospital for treatment where he was pronounced dead on Wednesday morning.

He said the two bodies of the deceased are still at Mbarara regional referral hospital mortuary pending postmortem.

Kasasira added that police findings indicate that the incident resulted from domestic violence that turned into murder and mob action.

The police public relations officer appealed to couples to seek counselling services in case of wrangles .He also cautioned the public against Mob actions.

The former Igara East MP contestant Dan Mugura Karukiko has tasked Ugandans to identify, support and develop talents especially among the youths.

Mugura said these yesterday while officiating at the Mbarara Kids Planet (MKP) Independence Tournament in which various football teams from Mbarara and Bushenyi participated.

Dan Mugura Karukiiko emphasized the rationale of sports development such as income generation, Trans boundary and social recognition, physical fitness, prevention of diseases and healthy development.

Some of the teams that participated include; Mbarara Business Elite, Riham FC, Cocacola FC, Dembe FC, Somali Stars, X-International FC, Digtech FC, Buymore, Bushenyi in Mbarara FC, Kajambiya FC, Elite FC and many others.

X- International emerged the winner after defeating Somali Stars in the finals.

The Chief Executive Officer of Mbarara Kids Planet Dan Mugura revealed that the Independence cup shall take place every year with finals being played on the Independence Day with an aim of identifying and developing talents especially those from Igara east.

Present at the event was Uganda Cranes Star and Vipers striker, Hillary Mukundane Karukiiko.

It should be recalled that the Mbarara artificial football turf is the first of its kind that has been built to International turf standards in the region.

This multibillion shillings project was constructed to promote sports in the region.

Asked why he chose to inject such huge sums of money in the project, Mugura noted that when it comes to Sports, Youths and all activities that touch humanity, it doesn’t matter how much money you put as long as you get positive results.

Kisoro district LCV chairperson, Abel has praised past regime of Milton Obote saying he performed better than the current NRM.

He made the remarks yesterday during world teachers day celebrations held today at Nyakinama Seed School in Nyakinama Sub County Kisoro district.

He credited UPC regime for registering infrastructure development like good hospitals, schools among others that are still outshining despite the low technology then.

He said that the current NRM government is full of masqueraders who always put on yellow shirts to dupe president Museveni.

Abel Bizimana said that MPs should be put on task to debate on issues affecting residents than focusing on their own interests. His speech received a lot of cheers from teachers who had gathered to celebrate their day.

He emphasized that nowadays no one is willing to defend interests of the fountain of honor because most of government workers are receiving meagre payment.

Speaking during the celebrations under the theme ‘’the transformation of education begins with teachers”, the UNATU Kisoro main branch chairperson, Matata Alex highlighted some of the challenges that teachers are facing including frustration, humiliation and demotivation due to salary segregation.

Matata further dismissed rumors that they were bribed to call off the strike and clarified that the industrial action on salary disparities for three weeks from 15th to 29th June 2022 was suspended because of security details.

In Kabale—

Students at Brainstorm High School in Nyakambu cell, Southern division in Kabale Municipality are counting losses following a fire outbreak in two of male dormitories.

According to students who spoke to our reporter, the two burnt dormitories are; Lumumba and Kaguta.

Students narrated that they had seen electric sparks since Monday night until yesterday afternoon at around 2:00PM when the dormitories caught fire.

Students at the school immediately responded to the situation but in vain until the fire rescue team from Kabale central police reached the scene and put off the fire.

Speaking to our reporter shortly, the school head teacher Bernad Bikorwomuhangi said that the situation was put under control and fire did not spread to other dormitories.

He was however worried that the situation might traumatize Senior Four candidates whose properties were also affected hence affecting their performance in the forthcoming UCE Exams.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson confirmed the incident and that police are investigating the likely cause of the fire.

By press time Maate told journalists that no death had occurred.

As part of recognizing and appreciating key players in Uganda’s tourism sector, the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, on Tuesday awarded city mogul Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia for his efforts towards promoting tourism in Uganda.
Dr. Sudhir, who is the Chairman Ruparelia Group of Companies, was yesterday honored, recognized and awarded at The World Tourism Day Gala Dinner that was at Sheraton Kampala Hotel, as ‘The top Tourism Player and Supporter.’
The Deputy Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon Thomas Tayebwa presided over the World Tourism Day Gala that was also attended by several stakeholders in the sector and was the one who handed over the award to Dr. Sudhir.
Rt. Hon. Tayebwa appreciated Sudhir for his passion, efforts and leadership in hospitality and tourism development in the country.

“In a special way, I congratulate Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, Chairman Speke Group of hotels for your Passion and Leadership in Hospitality and Tourism Development,” Tayebwa said.
“I know people who have been calling Dr. Sudhir to go and develop their Countries, I know many, some of them were asking me, but this Sudhir man what did you give him as Uganda? The man has a lot of money and we would like him to come and invest in our areas,” He revealed
“So Chairman, I want to thank you and your team of investors who have looked at Uganda as your number one destination for investment,” He said.
Tayebwa pledged Parliament’s support to the sector through both legislation and appropriation in key enablers like infrastructure and security to raise our tourism momentum.
Mr Tayebwa urged Ugandans to market their country wherever they go.
“This is our home, whether you want it or not we are going to be buried here,” He emphasized, adding, “Don’t hate your country because you don’t have any other country, if you go around painting a picture of Uganda, that is totally different and yet for you, you come and enjoy, it’s a point of concern for some of us, you can say whatever you want but know the limit and be the Ambassador of Uganda wherever you are and that is one way we can promote tourism in Uganda,” he urged.
He also called for an urgent end to visa requirements for Africans visiting the continent saying that;
“We can’t uphold such barriers to tourism and trade like unnecessary visa restrictions on ourselves and expect transformation.”
Dr. Sudhir, who is also the Honorary Consul of Nepal to Uganda, attended the event in person to receive the award that was endorsed by Hon. Tom Butime, the Minister for Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities.
It should be noted that through his Ruparelia Group of Hotels, Sudhir has for decades played a key role in providing accommodation for thousands of tourists who come to Uganda every year.
In 2018, Sudhir offered to become a lifetime guardian for a chimpanzee at the Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary on Lake Victoria.
The then Tourism Minister Frank Kamuntu said Ruparelia’s offer to be a lifetime guardian for the chimp demonstrated his attachment to tourism and conservation in the country.
Besides that, in 2020, tycoon Sudhir, who adopted a baby chimp, donated Shs 10m towards feeding chimpanzees at Ngamba Sanctuary during the COVID-19 lockdown.
The donation was received by Joshua Rukundo, the Executive Director Ngamba Island, who lauded the businessman for the generous contribution.
He said the donation would cater for the wild animals facing a tough time due to the COVID-19 lockdown and rising water levels then.
In February 2021, Dr. Sudhir and family enjoyed their Janan Luwum Day at Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC), popularly known as Entebbe Zoo, where he reunited with Kabira the Rhino after 20 years.
On their visit, Dr. Sudhir and family checked out Kabira, now aged 24 years, which is Uganda’s oldest male rhino named after Kabira Country Club, a property owned by the business magnate.
It should also be recalled that in 2001 Sudhir sponsored the translocation of the then three-year-old rhino from Solio Ranch in Kenya to the Entebbe Zoo.

Police in Mbarara are holding a one private Allan Turyasiima aged 25 years a UPDF soldier attached to 1st Battalion commando Bridgade who was found in possession of a stolen motorcycle registration number UFL459R in Ntungamo District at Single Line Lodges.

The motorcycle was stolen in Mbarara city from a boda boda rider Gilbert Atukwatse 22years a resident of Kibangire cell,Lyamiyonga Parish , Mwizi sub county Rwampara District who was brutally murdered in Rwentondo cell , Kakoba ward , Mbarara City south on the fateful morning of 22nd. Sept.2022.

According to ASP Samson Kasasira the Rwizi Police mouthpiece the suspect is behind Coolers at Mbarara central police station to help Police with investigations and the arrest of other Suspects still at Large.

Christopher Byaruhanga the outgoing Vice Chairman Mbarara City boda boda riders association commended police efforts to arrest the perpetrators behind the brutal murder of their colleague and called for justice.
He added that police should ensure regular patrols in the outskirts of the city at night to safeguard boda boda riders from criminals targeting them.

Kagadi district Chairperson Yosia Ndibwami B and the deputy RDC Benjamin Tumusiime have clashed with the school head teachers over the fees being charged in the ongoing nationwide Leaners Education Management Information System registration exercise in the district.
The head teachers have been charging 2000 shillings from each learner for the registration.
However during a heated meeting between the district leadership led by Ndibwami, the head teachers of both private and government aided schools held at Kagadi model Primary school in Kagadi town council on Thursday, Ndibwami explained that the registration exercise was meant to be free of charge according to the guidelines from the ministry of Education and sports.
He however explained that after being convinced by the IT experts that there was need by the schools to charge some fee to facilitate the exercise, the district leadership resolved that the schools charge 2000 shillings from each learner.
In his remarks, Deputy RDC Tumusiime also revealed that much as the exercise is supposed to be completely free of charge some schools were charging beyond the agreed amount.
He therefore threatened to arrest any school head teacher who will be found charging beyond 2000 shillings.
However the remarks by the two leaders provoked angry reactions from the school headteachers who argued that the 2000 shillings is too little to run the exercise.
The tough talking head teachers even advised the leaders to hire their own service providers if they are convinced that the 2000 shillings is enough to facilitate the exercise.
But amidst the uproar, the district chairperson and RDC directed that all school head teachers should charge only 2000 shillings from each learner, ensure that each learner accesses the Registration form and ensure their data is captured and leave the role of like entering it into the computer and uploading it onto the national web portal to the district.

A 28 year old woman who was attacked with acid mid last week has succumbed to the burns
Unknown assailants in Bushenyi on 14th Sept.2022 afternoon splashed acid on one Julian Braid a business woman in Bushenyi town near Bushenyi Medical Care hospital.
Speaking to www.mknewslink.com a close family member who preferred confidentiality said she has finally died after battling for her life for one week.
During the weekend, there were rumors that she had died but family members cleared the air that she was still alive.
She was however announced dead today morning and family members have since confirmed it.
May her soul rest in peace.
