In Kabale—

Police in Kabale are holding two suspects; man and woman on the allegations of killing a 50 year woman.

Kigezi Regional police spokesperson Elly Maate identified the deceased as Keredonia Orikiriza aged 57 years, a casual worker in Rwakaraba ‘B’ cell, Kijuguta ward, northern division Kabale district.

Maate told the press that the deceased was on the 17/03/2023 at around 2100/c in Moses’ bar drinking together with the two suspects identified as Chance Judith and Charles Tinkamubwine all residents of above mentioned.

At the time of leaving the bar, she left with Charles but she never reached her to home and when Charles was asked the whereabouts of the said deceased, he said that he separated with her in the bar and everyone took his/her own direction.

Maate added that a search for the deceased commenced until the 21/03/2022 when a report of disappearance was registered vide SD ref: 66/21/03/2023.

On the 23/03/2022, the chairperson LC1 Byamukama Nicholas of above village arrested Charles and handed him over to police, to assist in investigations as tracing for the deceased was still going on.

On the 24/03/2022 at around 1600/c, the dead body of Orikiriza was found in the bush covered with dry grass, around thirty meters away from Charles’ residence, according to Maate.

The police PRO told media that the scene was visited by Homicide team, photos taken and witnesses’ statements recorded and the Body conveyed to Kabale regional referral hospital mortuary for postmortem.

The minister for ICT and national guidance Dr. Chris Baryomunsi has revealed that NUP is as tribalistic as Kabaka Yekka party of post-independence.

Baryomunsi noted that NUP is regarded as political party for the Baganda which does not have an image national wide.

He said this Saturday afternoon at Western Meridian hotel where he was meeting NRM party university chapters for Ankole sub region.

The minister’s speech comes at a time when the NUP candidate for Kyambogo University western learning Centre Andrew Odeke just defeated NRM’s Rebbecca in the concluded guild elections.

He urged students to ensure that NRM party remains stronger in their institutions.

However, students castigated NRM secretariat for not helping their NRM chapters in universities to remain strong and win elections in their respective learning institutions.

Minister Baryomunsi generated a data base of the NRM students who were in the meeting and provided lunch plus transport.

He also assured them that he will always be with them because he is the NRM national vice chairman Chris Baryomunsi.

Police in Bushenyi are investigating circumstances under which a teacher at Bishop Ogez High school and St. Mary’s Vocational school Kyamuhunga in Bushenyi district died in an accident.

Johnan Tukahumura 40 years died on spot in an accident which happened on 15th, March 2022 at 08:21PM at Kayembe, Kyamuhunga Bushenyi district.

According to SP Martial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson, the accident involved Toyota Hilux registration number UBE973E and Bajaj boxer number UFC763S.

The deceased Tukahumura a physics and mathematics teacher at both schools was riding the Bajaj boxer.

The body was taken to Comboni hospital in Kyamuhunga for postmortem as police hunt for the driver of the vehicle.

Meanwhile, a woman in Sheema also perished in an accident that happened at Kagango along Bushenyi- Mbarara road in Sheema district on the night of 15th March 2022.

Shallon Tukwasibwe who was a passenger on Bajaj UFG 025X which collided with motor vehicle number UAP198D Toyota Colona Estate died on spot.

SP Tumusiime told www.mknewslink.com that both the motor vehicle and motorcycle are parked at Sheema.

In Bushenyi/ Mbarara–

Police in Mbarara are holding two people arrested in connection to the theft of Isingiro CAO’s Prado vehicle.

SP Martial Tumusiime the Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson could not reveal the details of the suspects in order not to jeopardize investigations.

SP Tumusiime revealed that the stolen vehicle Prado TX UAT140J was also recovered and is currently parked at Bushenyi central police station.

He told www.mknewslink.com that the two suspects arrested in Mbarara will be transferred to Bushenyi which is the scene of crime.

He, however could not reveal whether the prime suspects in the matter are the ones Mbarara police have in custody.

CAO Alice Asiimwe’s Prado vehicle was stolen on the night of 15^th March 2022 at around 11:00 PM from their home in Rwandaro cell, Ruharo Bushenyi Ishaka municipality.

The police spokesperson told www.mknewslink.com that the workers of the family; Didas Twesigye from Ibanda district and another one not identified but comes from Rubirizi attacked Mr. Laban Rushure the husband to the CAO, tied him up and took away with his 400,000 shillings plus the vehicle.

Mr. Rushure was discovered in the morning of yesterday 16^th March 2022 breathing profusely and was rescued by neighbors.

In Bushenyi—

Bushenyi district public accounts committee has faulted Adam for refusing to answer questions for the last three years with claims that he is doing exams at Kabale University.

The issue came to light yesterday during a Public Accounts Committee meeting sitting at the district headquarters to answer questions raised in the 3^rd and 4^th quarters of 2020/2021 financial year.

One of the members of the committee Johnson Nagasha worried why the contractor for Nyamushekyera 1 km road which was awarded in December 2020 started in April 2021 after three letters of reminder.

Johnson Nagasha told www.mknewslink.com that it was illegal for the contractor to refuse commencing work until the municipality begged him.

He noted that the engineer together with procurement officer Roberto Nuwagira should be held accountable for all the mistakes made on Nyamushekyera road.

Issues of accountability in Bushenyi Ishaka have been a very big occurrences even with the previous committee chaired by Karasi.

The chairperson of the committee Justine Burisadi with her members chased away all implicated municipal staff until today when PAC would visit Nyamushekyera road for monitoring.

In Bushenyi—

The censure process for Bushenyi Ishaka municipal speaker Evarist Rwambuga is in high gear and the motion is duly prepared.

Bushenyi Ishaka municipality councilors accuse Rwambuga of abuse of office, failure to control; illegal construction, street parking, dictatorship, and incompetence.

In a petition submitted to the office of the mayor, DISO; councilors allege that the speaker instructed the town clerk not to pay councilors’ allowances to some of them without giving a good reason.

They also noted that the speaker does not allow them to discuss issues freely in the council but ends up making his own decisions citing out issues of illegal construction and failure to account for the councilors’ benefits among others.

The councilors are supposed to meet Raphael Magyezi the minister of Local government during the weekend to discuss their grievances.

When contacted by www.mknewslink.com Rwambuga said he is ready to file a defense on the allegations levied against him.

23 signatures have already been collected out of the 34 councilors from the Bushenyi Ishaka municipal council.

In Ntungamo—

Police in Ntungamo District on Friday arrested a woman and three others for allegedly assaulting a priest during at a burial.

It is said that Rev Nathan Nkuranga had gone to the suspects’ home in Kishami Parish, Ruhaama East Sub-county, for the burial of Brazio Biryomumaisho.

Sources had it that the deceased had been starved to death and in his homily preaching, Rev. Nkuranga preached against mistreatment of spouses which angered the widow Ms. Christine Mbabazi, who attempted to hit him with a stick.

It is alleged that four other family members tried to intervene and the priest was chased out of their home without ending the service

Rev Nkuranga told media that for him he was preaching in general and not necessarily referring to the widow.

“I only said it is only a foolish woman who mistreats her husband, with whom they’ve had children to the extent of starving him. I also said domestic violence is on the rise where women and their sons mistreat the elderly so that they can share property after they have died,” he said.

Mr Moses Bagambe, the elder brother, had earlier told mourners that the deceased had been mistreated, denied food, beaten and at times chased out of the house by his wife and three sons who were demanding to divide the family land.

“We managed to take him to hospital with the intervention of the village chairperson, and when we reached him there, no one followed him. On the day his wife came to the hospital, he died. This caused suspicion from the family and to stop the suspicion and conflict, the reverend advised us that before burial, there must be a post-mortem done,” Mr Bagambe said.
The priest said he also ordered for a post-mortem to allay mourners’ fears.

“I ordered that a post-mortem must be first done and we establish the real cause of the man’s death given the behavior she showed,” Rev Nkuranga said.

He said before the widow could hit him with a stick, he held it firmly and called police to intervene.

The Bishop of West Ankole diocese Johnson Twinomujuni has warned head of laity ship contestants to stop the commercialization of elections with immediate effect.

He said this in an exclusive interview with www.mknewslink.com managing editor after a church service. The service was a precursor to the inauguration of the synod and hotly contested election of the head of laity.

The Bishop was extremely busy after concluding a service and was heading for the inauguration of the synod thus couldn’t give www.mknewslink.com more time.

He warned all the four candidates; Willis Bashaasha, Pison Mugizi, Wilfred Katobe, and Arthur Babu Muguzi to stop using money in head of laity ship elections.

Edmund Rurangaranga the son to the late Maj. Gen. Edward Rurangaranga has vowed to sue Kitagata town council for demolishing a market he had constructed to help residents.

Edmund told www.mknewslink.com in a telephone interview from London that he had constructed the market on his land but not on NEMA’s as alleged.

The town clerk for Kitagata town council Sylivia Nampe Bategana told www.mknewslink.com that she has severally warned Rurangaranga both verbally and in writing to demolish the market but all in vain.

She added that she finally called in NEMA from regional office in Mbarara to come and demolish the market which they did.

Despite all the above from NEMA and town clerk, Edmund contains that on Monday, his lawyers will start work of suing Kitagata town council for masterminding the demolition of the market he had set up for vulnerable people.

He wondered why they demolished only his market and left other stalls intact.

However, Harriet Namara told www.mknewslink.com that the owners of the other stalls will be given ultimatum to vacate and if they don’t comply, their stalls will also be demolished.

Odeke defeated NRM’s Rebbecca who was heavily facilitated

“She had a lot of money, I had people,” Odeke told www.mknewslink.com managing director in an interview today Sunday 6^th March 2022 afternoon at Jamugi restaurant and lodging.

Odeke polled 184 while NRM’s Rebecca polled 144.

Odeke is a second year student for Bachelors degree in procurements and logistics management.

“Not every NUP leader is chaotic, I will work with the institution leaders peacefully,” he told our reporter.

The guild elect told www.mknewslink.com that he will work hard to ensure that NUP gets following the institution of about 700 students.
