In Mbarara—–

High court in Mbarara has today dismissed with costs the electoral petition filed by FDC’S Odo Tayebwa against Bushenyi-ishaka municipality MP Derrick Kabura.

Odo Tayebwa alleged that there were electoral abnormalities such as bribery, voter intimidation, and destruction of Oddo Tayebwa’s posters among others.

In his ruling that was read by the acting deputy registrar Samuel Twakire Justice Moses Kawumi dismissed Odo’s petition after the court found out that Derrick Kabura didn’t not bring street lights during election time as claimed by Oddo’s lawyers of Kanduho and co.advocates.

Speaking to journalists after the court session Odo Tayebwa said that he is going to appeal in the court of appeal as he was not contented with the Court ruling.

Tayebwa was defeated in the 14^th. January .2021 parliamentary polls after he collected 5.898 votes against Derrick’s 8.199 votes; Others in the race were Yedidia Nyakahangura of ANT who got 734 votes , Kenneth Akanduhura independent 166 votes , Elly Ahabwe Rukira independent 47 votes , Nasser Nduhukire independent 13 votes.

In Sheema—–

Police in Sheema District have in custody a man who set ablaze his mother’s house with the intention of killing her.

The suspect has been identified as Nebert Kishija 37 years, a resident of Kishabya, Shuuku Sub County in Sheema district.

It is alleged that suspect raided his family yesterday night at around 01:00Am beating his own children claiming that one of them is not his.

According to residents, Nerbert have overtime been quarreling with his wife over the issue of the child whom he thinks is not his.

Residents said that when Nerbert raided his home, the wife Annet sought for help from his brother who came and took away the child prompting Nebert to transfer the anger to his mother Lovance Kishija burning her house to ashes leaving his mother in critical conditions.

Nebert Kishija was later arrested by police and taken to Kishabya police police post while his mother rushed to Shuuku Health centre IV for medical attention.

In Mitooma—

Police in Mitooma are holding a reverend for allegedly impregnating a girl and forcing her to abort.

Rev. Gordon Muhwezi allegedly impregnated one Saphila a daughter to Baguma and tried to abort the fetus.

According to Police sources, they arrested another reverend who was trying to bribe the girl’s father with three million shillings to keep him silent about the matter.

Gordon Muhwezi is a priest at Nyarutuntu in Mahungye West Ankole diocese.

Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson SP Martial Tumusiime declined commenting on the matter saying they had not received such a case from Mitooma.

However, credible sources confirmed that Rev. Gordon, his colleague plus Saphila’s school directors were arrested though some were later released while others are still in custody in Mitooma.

In Mbarara—-

High court in Mbarara led by Moses Kazibwe Kawumi has dismissed an election petition challenging the victory of Muhammed Kato as Member of Parliament for Katerera County constituency in Rubirizi District.

The former Member of Parliament for Katerera County Hatwib Katoto filed the election petition in court seeking for nullification of Kato’s victory and being declared the winner or court compels the Electoral commission to organize fresh elections.

The petition also had the electoral commission as the second respondent.

The Katoto through his lawyer Abubaker Ssekajako gave a number of grounds that included lack of requisite academic qualifications for Kato to contest as a Member of Parliament.

He also told the court that the election was not conducted in accordance with the principles laid down in the provisions of the constitution.

However, Muhammed Kato the 1^st respondent through his counsel Obed Mwebesa objected to the petition contending that the affidavit accompanying the petition was commissioned by a commissioner for oaths whose practicing License had expired when he commissioned the affidavit.

Acting deputy registrar Samuel Twakire, who read the judgment on behalf of Justice Moses Kazibwe Kawumi dismissed the petition on ground that it was not supported with a valid affidavit.

He dismissed the petition with costs to both counsels of the respondents.

In Bushenyi—

The Member of Parliament for Igara East in Bushenyi district Michael Mawanda Maranga has revealed that his phone is actively on therefore no voter should complain that it is off.

Michael Mawanda said this in an exclusive interview while at parliamentary canteen with www.mknewslink.com Managing Editor on Tuesday this week.

He noted that his number 0752750250 is permanently on during night and day thus any voter who wants to talk to the MP can call and will be answered by the MP himself.

Immediately after the by-parliamentary election in 2018, Martial vs. Mawanda, Voters started complaining that his phones were never on and changed regularly.

During the last campaign they were still complaining but Mawanda has assured them that is over and his number 0752750250 is now on.

He pledged to achieve what he promised to voters during 2020 campaigns. For example Bwera, Buyanja parishes in Kyeizooba sub-county among others are receiving Rural Electrification power.

He added that the schools that had been closed by leaders like Amanya Mushega are now working very well such as Kabushaho SSS taken over by government, Mwengura SSS which he gave A ‘level.

Mawanda noted that he is working hard to ensure that his constituency is a model one where other people come to learn from.

Mawanda is serving his 3^rd term after defeating the then incumbent MP and minister Dr. Richard Nduhuura in a thrilling NRM primaries in 2010.

In Sheema—

Uganda National Examinations Board has terminated 2020 PLE results of 83 pupils from Sheema district over examination malpractice.

The affected schools are Visionary Junior School with 42 pupils Kyabigo primary school with 41 pupils.

Loyce Kanyesigye Tumusiime the Sheema District Education Officer confirmed the matter noting that she had already written to the schools to allow all the pupils affected to repeat, once schools reopen.

The Residence District Commissioner Sheema, Frank Kyerere said he confirmed with UNEB about the cancellation of the results when he went to their offices with school heads and invigilators.

He told www.mknewslink.com that UNEB told them that there was examination malpractice in the mentioned schools and a decision was reached to cancel the results.

According to Kyerere, UNEB showed them papers of mathematics done by pupils and they found out that indeed there was cheating.

In July this year, UNEB released 2020 PLE results of 734,788 candidates and over 2000 candidates never received their results due to examination malpractice.

In Bushenyi—

Bushenyi district council has approved Ms. Scolastica Ndyagambaki the Pearl Junior school director as the chairperson Bushenyi District Service Commission.

Ms. Ndyagambaki was yesterday during a council meeting approved alongside Eldard Muhanguzi and Eldard Kamuza Bahangana both members.

The three if approved by Public Service Commission in Kampala will join Veleriano Byabashaija who has been part of the previous commission under the leadership of Ms. Lydia Rwakishaya.

This is not the first time Ndyagambaki has been appointed by Chairman Jaffari Bassajabalaba as the chairperson District Service Commission; she was sometime back appointed but was however blocked after civil society CEO Apollo Lee Kakonge run to court on ground that there was an already existing service commission led by Lydia Rwakishaya

Relatedly, the council appointed Counsel Paul Tusubira Byandemire as the chairperson District Lands committee to work with Dr. Steven Tusiime, Hassan Banyanga, and Annah Kangate.

Ms. Justine Burisadi was appointed the chairperson Public Accounts Committee alongside Hajji Kamadi Tibesigwa, Rosemary Atuhaire and Johnson Nagasha all members.

In Bushenyi—

Bushenyi RDC Jane Asiimwe Muhindo has warned residents to always get home a bit early since the district is no longer safe at night.

The RDC’s warning follows a number of threatening leaflets that have been dumped around Bushenyi district since last week.

Earlier last week fear and panic galloped residents of Bushenyi district after unknown assailants dropped leaflets claiming that they would attack the district and kill people like they have been doing in greater Masaka region.

About 30 people were later arrested; 7 with pangas and toxic drugs, taken to Bushenyi police station then court .

In Ntungamo——

Four people have been killed in an arson attack on a family in Ntungamo district.

The incident took place in Nyaburiza cell, Nyarutuntu sub county in the wee hours of today killing a family head and three biological children.

Sources from police indicate that the assailants locked the house members inside the house and used petrol to set the house on fire which burnt the bodies beyond recognition.

The dead have been identified as Obed Akampuriira (28) the head of the family, Innocent Ainamatsiko (10),Peterson Natwijuka (9) and Patricia Ainembabazi (7).

Birungi Akampuriira the mother to the children survived with serious burns and has been rushed to hospital for treatment.

Rwizi regional police spokesperson Samson Kasasira says that Obed Akampuriira had recently been released from prison and had on several occasions been arrested in connection to robberies targeting cyclists in the area.

Kasasiira adds that the odor of petrol could be smelt in the surroundings and the assailants had abandoned a match box and a panga at the door way.

He further revealed that the assailants could be angry locals since he at one time survived a mob attack adding that police are still investigating the matter

In Rukungiri—

The woes of Ingrid Turinawe the former parliamentary aspirant for Rukungiri municipality and FDC secretary for mobilization are yet to end after the party has replaced her with Hassan Fungaro Kaps.

Turinawe’s troubles started in 2020 when she lost Rukungiri municipality FDC flag to Dr. Warren Nuwagaba but, decided to stand as independent.

It is alleged that she talked ill of Dr. Nuwagaba, and on one time she was heard saying loudly, that instead of Dr. Warren winning. It would rather had been Dr. Rutahirwa of NRM.

Dr. Rutahigwa was one of founders of FDC in Rukungiri, but he later crossed to NRM when he lost the flag to Kaginda in 2011, Ingrid thought he would maybe work for them again.

News reaching www.mknewslink.com  indicate that Ingrid has been axed and replaced by Fungaro Kaps as a new secretary for moblisation.

Anne Adeke replaces Kevin Taaka as deputy president of Eastern Uganda, while Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago replaces rebelled Joyce Naboosa Ssebugwawo who saw light recently in NRM.

Ssebugwawo was the FDC deputy president in Buganda region.
