In Kabarole—

A security operative has shot a boda boda rider dead at a border checkpoint in Kibeede Trading Centre Nyansozi village Kabarole district.

The deceased has been identified as John Kyaligomza, a boda boda rider and a resident of the same area.

The shooting which was alleged done by a UPDF soldier occurred at the border of Kabarole and Bunyangabu districts, where the presidential guidelines against inter-district travels were being enforced.

It is alleged that the deceased refused to stop at a security check point where the security officer shot him in the head.

According to Samuel Kusemererwa the chairperson LCI, Kyarigonza was shot by a yet to be identified UPDF soldier.

By press time, the police were yet to comment on the matter.

In Sheema—

Residents in Kabwohe, Sheema municipality have woken up in grief after a 14 year old boy was found electrocuted.

The deceased only identified as Chameleon who hails from Ntungamo district has been a scrap dealer in Kabwohe town.

According to SP Martial Tumusiime the Greater Bushenyi Police mouthpiece, the deceased last night broke into a wielding house to steal metals but met his fate as he was escaping with a stolen metallic box.

Maate told www.mknewslink.com that they were informed today morning, visited the scene of crime and transferred the deceased’s body to Kabwohe health centre IV for post mortem.

In Rukungiri—

Police in Rukungiri District are actively investigating the cause of mysterious death of a man in his 50’s whose lifeless body was found lying in a stream.

The deceased is Muhwezi Barigye a resident of Omwibaare village, Bwanda parish, Buhunga Sub County in Rukungiri district.

Joseph Kagumaho the Rusheshe village Chairperson where the body was found says he was informed about the tragic news on Wednesday at around 9:30am by the residents who were going to attend the burial in the neighborhood.

Rukungiri DPC ASP. Edwin Atukunda told www.mknewslink.com that they visited the scene and retrieved the body from the water.

The body was taken to Rwakabengo Health Centre III pending postmortem as investigations take course. The deceased is survived by seven children and a wife

Santrinah Nahwera the Buhunga and Ruhinda Sub Counties District Woman encouraged the public to always report to relevant authorities whenever their family members get lost or take long to return to their homes so that rescue operations can start earlier.

In Kiruhura—-

Four people in Kiruhura have succumbed to Rift Valley fever which recently broke out in the district.

Kiruhura District Veterinary Officer Dr. Grace Asiimwe has confirmed the outbreak of Rift Valley Fever in the district and the death of the four.

Asiimwe noted that the disease has so far been detected in the areas of Sanga sub county, Kinoni, Kigarama, and Rushere town council.

Dr. Asiimwe says farmers and the entire community should be Keen with the contagious disease which shows signs and symptoms of ; fever, muscle pains ,loss of sight among animals while humans usually  have either no symptoms or mild illness such as ;fever, weakness, back pain ,and dizziness.

Rift valley fever breaks out in Kiruhura at a time the district is battling with foot and mouth disease since February this year.

In Rukiga—

Ugandan comedienne Anne Kansiime Kubiryaba, popularly known as Anne Kansiime has lost her mother on the morning of Sunday 6th June, 2021.

The self-styled Queen of Comedy had a month to remember in April after giving birth to baby Selasie Ataho and reportedly being proposed to by boyfriend Skylanta.

The month of June, however, has started off on a bad note with the loss of her mother who raised her to become a big star.

The sad Kansiime revealed the terrible news of the loss of her mother through posts across her social media.

The 35-year-old wrote, “God’s ways are indeed not our ways. My mother has gone to be with the Lord this morning.”

Several celebrities and fans have already started pouring in their condolences message towards the comedienne.

Kansiime was born in Mparo in present day Rukiga in the western region of Uganda.

Her father is a retired banker while her departed mother has been a house wife

In Mbarara—

Traders in Mbarara city have now seen a ray of hope as they will soon move back to their highly anticipated for Central Market.

The government project which has so far faced three consecutive setbacks is said to be in its final stages.

Robert Mugabe Kakyebezi the Mbarara city mayor had earlier told journalists that the Contractor of the market construction ROKO construction Company Limited had already tendered in his guarantees to the ministry of Local government to finish up the construction works.

Kakyebezi further noted that officials from the ministry of Local Government would visit the construction site before they could grant the contractor more time to finish up.

The mayor said that the biggest percentage of the works had been done; with a few things like floor to be finished in the shortest time possible.

The former  minister for Local government Raphael Magyezi had threatened  the contractor to  terminate his contract failure to deliver the final work by 29th.May.2021.

The 21 billion project is being implemented by ROKO construction Company under the Markets an Agriculture Trade Improvement Project (MATIP) that aims on improving agriculture.

Mitooma district chairman Benon Karyeija has denied rumors that he has tested positive for COVID 19.

There have been rumors circulating on social media that the district boss recently tested positive to the scourge.

However, through a detailed text message to www.mknewslink.com managing editor, Karyeija confirmed that he has never contracted the virus and he is well.

He said that his office is always open and those who wish to talk to him can visit him during working days.

He advised the public to continue observing the Standard Operating Procedures; hand washing, wearing masks, social distancing and sanitizing.

The President of Uganda His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni  Tibuhaburwa  has described the attackers of Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala as pigs.

Gen. Edward Katumba, the former Minister for Works and Transport was today morning attacked by unknown assailants as he drove from his home to bury a relative.

Katumba’s daughter Brenda Wamala who was travelling with him was shot dead alongside the driver.

President Museveni in his condolence message after the incident said that the attackers are pigs who don’t value life.

Museveni through his twitter handle revealed that he had talked to Gen. Katumba and he is being managed.

In Sheema—

Sheema district has registered one case of COVID 19 death as the country goes through the second wave of the scourge.

The deceased is a 32 year old resident of Kirundo village Shuuku town council Sheema district.

It is alleged that the deceased escaped from Mukono hospital where he had been getting medication.

According to Fred Mugizi a father to the deceased, his son escaped from Mukono hospital after failing to get someone to cater for him but unfortunately the boda boda rider who brought him stole his bag which contained drugs.

Sheema RDC Frank Kyerere confirmed the death of the man who returned home three days ago.

Kyerere told www.mknewslink.com that after getting information about the return of the deceased, he talked to Police who visited the home and taught members on how to live with the victim.

He noted that they also took another sample from the victim but he unfortunately died before results were brought back.

In Masindi—

Authorities in Masindi have temporarily closed Kinyara Health Centre III after 11 staff of Kinyara sugar factory tested positive for COVID 19.

The temporary closure followed a district corona virus task force meeting held yesterday afternoon at the Residence District Commissioner’s office.

Wanok Richard the communications manager Kinyara sugar factory explains that they recently did routine screening tests of their staff for COVID-19 and 11 of their medical staff turned out to be positive.

He adds of the 11 staff, two staff exhibited fairly mild clinical symptoms and are undergoing medication whereas the rest are asymptomatic, and they are all undertaking safe home-based care and isolation as per guidelines.

Dr. Patrick Baguma the Masindi District Health Officer told Journalists that the health facility has been temporary closed since they are working hard to ensure safety through spraying around the facility among other activities.

Masindi district has fourteen active cases of corona virus; two are getting treatment at Hoima regional referral hospital, eleven from Kinyara health Centre III while one is on home based care.

Since the pandemic broke out in Uganda last year, Masindi district has seventy nine cases of corona virus, and one death.

The Masindi Residence District Commission Rose Kirabira noted that the virus is attacking everyone despite of age, and has minor signs and symptoms unlike before.

She has therefore appealed to the community to observe the SOPs warning that those who will be found violating them will be arrested.
