In Kabarole—

Local small scale entrepreneurs that exhibited their goods at the first ever Rwenzori Investment Expo 2020 in Kabarole district early this year, have come out to demand president Museveni to fulfill his pledge.

During the Rwenzori Investment Expo that was held at Mountains of the Moon University on 30^th-31^st January this year, President Museveni pledged to support local small scale entrepreneurs that exhibited during the expo with 10m per registered stall so that they can increase their production capacities and varieties.

Stella Rwabwogo, Ayebaale Gertrude, Andrew Ruhigwa and Jenifer Ruhunga Kabatalesa who deal in crafts and exhibited during the expo say the president promised them 10m each exhibitor but he has not fulfilled the pledge.

The Aggrieved members say since the outbreak of COVID 19, their businesses have been affected and are currently struggling with loans, school fees, rent among others. They urge their MPs, RDC to make a follow up and pledge to be fulfilled before 2021 general elections.

Asiimwe Margaret, a boda boda lady who transported president from Muhoti Barracks to the expo at Mountains of the moon university asserts that president promised her a boda boda and ten million shillings but up to now, the pledge has never been fulfilled.

Asiimwe notes that she has on several occasions engaged the office of Kabarole district LC5 chairperson and the RDC to push on the matter but any time she engages them, they promise to give her platform to air out her issue when the president comes back.

Bandeeba Festus the Deputy RDC Kabarole says there was supposed to be a validation process by the ministry of finance and Uganda Investment authority to ascertain the beneficiaries which exercise was affected by COVID 19.

He calls for calm and patience from all exhibitors and those with concerns as they will raise their issue before the president.

The former Vice chairman for Sheema district Dr. Eng. Yorokamu Katwiremu has revealed that Dr. Elioda is no longer the NRM chairman Sheema district because he quit the party when he decided to run as independent.

Eng. Katwiremu revealed this in an exclusive interview with www.mknewslink.com managing editor at Jamugi restaurant in Bushenyi town on Sunday 29^th Nov.2020.

Eng. Katwiremu noted that the guidelines and constitutions of NRM are very clear that when the chairman quits the party, the vice chairman takes over therefore he is the full chairman of NRM for Sheema district.

“Am neither the acting chairman nor the vice chairman because the chairman quit the party and the constitution gives me powers to take over as the chairman,”Katwiremu noted.

Dr. Elioda quit the party when he decided to run as an independent candidate after losing NRM primaries to Dickson Kateshumbwa former boss at URA.

In Kabale—-

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Patrick Oboi Amuriat was on Sunday tear gassed by police for defying their orders of not campaign at Kabale lower stadium in Kabale District.

Amuriat was from Kisoro district where his campaign was foiled by police on Sunday evening for allegedly showing up past 6 pm.

While at Sabena stage in Kabale municipality, Amuriat came out of his vehicle to wave to his supporters.

Police responded by firing teargas and rubber bullets to disrupt the procession, which had begun attracting numerous locals.

Brain Ampeire, the Kabale District Police Commander, ordered him that it is impossible to be allowed to proceed to the playground for a rally yet his time was over.

Amuriat addressed his supporters protesting the order and attempted to walk around town which paralyzed transport for more than one hour.

He protested the order saying that there is no law that prohibits him from campaigning at Kabale lower stadium since he had reached in Kabale town before the closure of campaign hours.

However, police overpowered him, and later drove him out of town through Makanga road after paralyzing transport in Kabale town for an hour.

Elly Maate, the police spokesperson for Kigezi region says that their decision to block Amuriat is in good faith because he is aware that when it proceeds, 6pm no campaigning is allowed.

In Bushenyi—

Dr. Abel Mucunguzi a senior lecturer at Kabale Government University and a prominent farmer has constructed a 50M health facility in Kakanju as a way of giving back to his birth place.

While launching the health facility Dr. Abel Mucunguzi noted that he has built the facility to purposely help the residents of Rwengooma in Kakanju Sub County to be able to access quality health care.

He added that most of the clinics around Kashanda are run by unprofessional staff which puts the residents to danger adding that he does not want to see his people continue to access services of unqualified staff.

Dr. Abel said that his wife Ms Federis Mucunguzi who is a health worker has retired from Government services and she is now available to offer quality health services at a minimum cost of 15,000 per patient to supplement on drug purchase.  

The health facility has wards, outpatient department, staff houses and modern latrine.

The launching of the facility was preceded by a church mass presided over by Fr. Agapto Arinaitwe.

The function was graced by the district chairman Jaffari Bassajabalaba who hailed Dr. Mucunguzi for remembering his birth place

Other people present were; Mbwatekamwa Gaffa the NRM flag bearer for Igara West, Prof. Mesarch Katusiimeh from Kabale university faculty of governance who represented the university, Eldard Muhangisa a retired head teacher and prominent farmer from Ruhumuro.

In Kigezi—

The National Drug Authority- NDA has closed six illegal veterinary Drug shops in Kigezi region.

The drug shops were closed during a two week operation conducted in
the districts of Kabale, Rubanda, Rukiga, Kisoro, Rukungiri, and
Kanungu districts, and NDA also has impounded two boxes of veterinary medicines worth over two Million Shillings.

The drug shops that were closed are; Tukamushaba Veterinary drug shop, Byomuhangi Veterinary drug shop, Hamurwa Veterinary drug shop all in Rubanda district, Bukinda Veterinary drug shop
in Rukiga district, Rubuguri Veterinary drug shop in Kisoro district,
and Ariho Veterinary drug shop in Rukungiri district.

Addressing a press conference at the Kabale District Office hall
Makanga in Kabale Municipality, the NDA Western Region Manager Kenneth Kiiza said that they inspected 45 veterinary drug shops.

He added that they found out that the six drug shops were unlicensed, had unqualified personnel, lacked proper and functional storage facilities for drugs and illegally sold veterinary products.

He said that they have engaged the owners of the drug outlets to
streamline their operations before they are allowed to re-open.

He added that they have involved police in investigating some of the
cases, and take action on shop keepers who mix veterinary drugs with
general merchandise.

The Kabale district Chief Administrative Officer Edmond Ntimba tasked
NDA to desist from approving cheap medicines into the market

He also asked public to always expose and report owners of drug shops which they suspect to be illegally selling drugs to help the district
veterinary office and police to investigate them.

In Igara East, Bushenyi—

Igara East Member of Parliament Michael Mawanda Maranga who is an NRM flag bearer is an amazing legislator who has 12 sim cards but none of them is ever on.

According to investigations done by www.mknewslink.com managing editor even his father Can. Maranga cannot reach him since his many sim cards are always off.

Sources from Igara East Bushenyi district told www.mknewslink.com that after the 2017 bye-election in which Mawanda defeated Martial to retain his seat, Mawanda started changing sim cards on a daily basis.

Mawanda came to the limelight 2010 when he defeated Ambassador Richard Nduhura the then state minister for health in NRM primaries.

Mawanda did a lot of projects like schools, health facilities, churches and mosques where his bar was raised higher.

He recently defeated a number of candidates in NRM primaries where he did campaigns in a very secretive way by not using any of his cars but rather used boda boda and other small private cars.

Mawanda was nominated at 10:00am for 2021 general elections and by 3:00pm he was already in Kyengera travelling back to his home in Kampala.

On the other hand, Mawanda is contesting with Dan Mugura Karukiiko who has traversed the whole of Igara east ie 5subcounties and two town councils.

For a month now, Mawanda cannot be traced by his voters who have a lot of questions to ask.

In Bushenyi

Bushenyi Ishaka municipality is planning on banning all food hawkers from the towns within this week.

Bushenyi Ishaka Municipality town clerk David Tweheyo Betega told www.mknewslink.com  that according to health guidelines, people are not supposed to move door to door selling food.

He revealed that they have been receiving complaints received from the people selling fresh food in the Bushenyi market that they cannot get customers to buy their goods because of the hawkers.

He added that Bushenyi central market which is supposed to be occupied by more than a hundred fresh food sellers is only occupied by sixteen sellers which affects the revenue of the municipality.

In Kyenjojo

Police in Kyenjojo have blocked National Unity Platform President Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine from accessing the town.

Bobi Wine who is on a campaign trail in western Uganda, made his first stop in Kyegegwa town.

Followed by mass crowds, he shook the small town attracting teargas from police.

“Thank you Kyegegwa. Not even the intimidation could stop you from coming out to show solidarity early morning,” he said.

In Kyenjojo, security blocked him from accessing the town and sent him to a place, deep in the village.

“On his Facebook account, Bobi wine noted, “we are being followed everywhere by teargas trucks, police pick-ups with soldiers, mini-buses which they use to arrest us.”

“All these are meant to scare people from even approaching us, but some PEOPLE are refusing to submit,” he vowed.

Bobi wine is expected in Fort Portal this afternoon

The Igara east FDC MP Flag bearer Amanya Andrew has warned security organs to stop humiliating and intimidating the opposition as they campaign for next year’s elections.

Amanya commonly known as Ekyeyerezo was reacting the brutal arrest of the opposition by police and other security agencies.

Speaking to www.mknewslink.com reporter at the party offices in Bushenyi town, Amanya said that the way Police and army are handling the opposition is uncalled for.

He called upon president Museveni to stop the organs from mistreating other candidates adding that it discourages the young generation in Uganda.

He called for change adding that this is the right time for Ugandans to bring in a new government which will listen to people’s interests.

He advised that this struggle should not be left to the likes of Besigye, Bobi wine but every Ugandan should take it to be his or her responsibility since Uganda is for all.

In Bushenyi

Residents of Central division Bushenyi Ishaka municipality are worried over lack of public toilets and latrines in their area.

The residents say that the available ones are in poor state in addition to being locked.

Elkangiro Asiimwe the chairperson Rotary Boda Boda stage told www.mknewslink.com that they have resorted to first buying food and other goods before they are allowed to use traders’ latrines.

Asiimwe revealed that they have a public toilet few meters from their stage but it has been closed for almost 6 years since its renovation in 2014.

Asiimwe cried to the municipal authorities to come to their rescue and work on the Public latrines issue so that they can be saved from inconveniences.

However, Stephen Karuti the Central division chairperson told www.mknewslink.com reporter that they are negotiating with the surrounding community to get someone to manage the toilets which he hopes will open soon.

Bushenyi town has only two public toilets, one behind Gift hotel 10-20 meters from Mbarara -Ishaka high way while another one is below the Bushenyi Central Market but was opened recently after many years of closure.
