Ms Annet Mugisha Katusiime the co- director Bamugisha community welfare limited has given out four solar panels worth millions of shillings to light up Kabagarame pork market which has always worked up to evening.

Traders and clients will begin working over night without anything disturbing them.

The lights were launched yesterday by Jaffari Bassajabalaba the district chairman and witnessed by division chairman Karuti Steven,the division town clerk Andrew Mugabi and the deputy mayor Mzee Baryaruha.

Jaffari contributed one million to construct a fence around Kabagarame pork market.

Bamugisha community welfare limited led by Dr. Eng. Silver Mugisha and his wife Annet Katusiime has given out 500 goats to the people of Bushenyi, planted thousands of trees in the district, thousands of hoes among others.

Annet Katusiime will be a candidate for woman member of parliament for Bushenyi district in 2020 NRM primaries.

In Mbarara

Bishop Fred Sheldon Mwesigwa, the 5th Bishop of Ankole Diocese appealed to Church leaders to fight corruption in the church.

In his Christmas message, Bishop Sheldon said that there is a lot of corruption in the church, with the leaders failing to account for money meant for different church projects.

According to Sheldon, church leaders cannot begin criticizing corruption in government when they are corruption, thus called for self examination.

Meanwhile, at Uganda Martyrs Catholic Church in Mbarara, the main preacher, Fr Dezi Tumwiine called upon Christiansto ensure a peaceful 2019 by expressing love and trust to each other.

The prayers were attended by big dignitories including the Chief Justice of Uganda, Bart Katureebe.

Security in and around different churches in Mbarara, was heightened with counter terrorism, regular police and other security personnel to avoid any incident that would jeopardize security of the people.

In Kampala

Kampala International University (KIU) risks being attached by a forex bureau in Kampala that is demanding more than Shs500m from its proprietors Hassan Basajjabalaba and his brother Muzamiru Basajja.

Roltex International Forex Bureau Ltd in its law suit filed on December 19, states that it has failed to recover the money from Haba Group U Ltd, and one of the companies owned by the two brothers and alleges that they are hiding property.

The management of the forex bureau now wants court to issue an order for the attachment of the known assets of the brothers such as KIU and Haks Express in Kampala in a bid to recover its money.
I have been advised by my advocates to apply for lifting of the corporate veil and proceed to attach the properties of the 2nd and 3rd respondents (Basajja brothers) herein named, the court documents reads in part.
We have carried out due diligence and inquiries, we found that the 1st respondent (Haba Group Ltd) has no known properties but the 2nd and 3rd respondents (Basajja brothers) own various properties acquired from trading as 1st respondent.

The 2nd and 3rd respondent (Basajja brothers), own shares at Kampala International University, Haks Express at industrial area and personal properties, the documents further state.

Court records indicate that the legal battle started between 2001 and 2002.
This was when the forex bureau entered into an oral agreement with Haba Group to rent part of its premises on City Centre Complex building in Kampala.
An oral agreement and express term of contract with the defendant (Haba Group) was that as part of management of building, the plaintiff (forex bureau) would provide security during day and the defendant (Haba Group), would be responsible for security during the night, the forex bureau states.
The agreement remained subsisting and was implemented without any problem until there was a break-in of the premises, the documents add.

By press time last Friday, the court was yet to summon the brothers to file their defence before a hearing date could be fixed.

Court documents show that the break-in of the forex bureau happened on March 27, 2012. Burglars made off with more than Shs188m at the time when employees of Haba Group were in charge of the buildings security making them liable for the loss of the money.
Subsequently, the forex bureau sued Haba Group for the loss with Justice Christopher Madrama Izama (now at Court of Appeal) on September 2015, ordering the former to compensate the latter, including damages and interest that has since accumulated to more than Shs500m.

In Kampala.

City property mogul Sudhir Ruparelia has sued Sebalu & Lule advocates, the recently contracted external lawyers for Bank of Uganda (BoU), for alleged conflict of interest arising out of one of the court cases where the law firm is representing dfcu Bank.
The petitioner, Crane Management Services owned by Mr Ruparelia, contends that there exists an advocate-client relationship with the lawyers of Sebalu & Lule Advocates yet the same law firm is representing an opposing party against them in another court matter.
Mr Ruparelia was also owner of the closed Crane Bank which the central bank sold to dfcu Bank.

In view of the advocate-client relationship between the applicant (Crane Management Services Ltd) and the 1st respondent (Sebalu & Lule advocates), the latters continued participation as defence counsel for the 2nd respondent (Dfcu bank) herein, which is the defendant in High Court Civil Suit (HCCS) No. 109/2018 against the applicant/plaintiff, is prejudicial to the applicants head suit, the petition reads in part.
The suit was filed at the Commercial Court on Tuesday.
Crane Management Services further contends that the advocate-client relationship through which vital and confidential information was discussed and exchanged between the two parties and their continued defence of dfcu bank would be prejudicial to them.

petitioner now wants the court to issue a permanent injunction, restraining Sebalu & Lule Advocates from appearing as defence counsel for dfcu bank in the other court case that the two principals are battling out.
Early this year Mr Ruparelia also sued two law firms MMAKS Advocates and J.F. Mpanga Advocates, who had been hired by Bank of Uganda to represent the central bank in the case against Crane Bank. He sued the law firms for conflict of interest and court disqualified them from representing BoU.

The original matter involves Crane Management Services suing dfcu bank over rental arrears amounting to Shs2.9b and $385,728.54.
The rental arrears allegedly being in respect of tenancies of suit properties that were formally owned by Crane Bank, which has since been sold to dfcu bank by Bank of Uganda.
The suit documents further say that Crane Management Services had let out various premises on the suit property to the then Crane Bank from where it operated its business in the premises on the terms agreed by the parties.

Crane Management Services principally deals in real estate business. The suit documents further indicate that when Dfcu bank took over the assets and liabilities of Crane Bank, it also took over occupation and use of the said rented properties from which the real estate company wants to recover accumulated rent arrears from Dfcu bank.
Some of the properties cited include; Crane Bank branches at plot 9 on Market Street, plot 1-13, Jinja Road, plot 47, Republic Road-Mbale, Speke Hotel (1996), Pot 19 Cooper Road (Crane Plaza), plot 20, Kampala Road Crane Bank ATM.

Animal husbandry Bushenyi ishaka municipality Moses Bugyendo has warned butchers in Bushenyi not to dare slaughter their animals in Bushenyi during this Christmas season.

He noted that all animals should be slaughtered at Nyakabirizi abattoir as it has always been.

He added that whoever slaughters any animal in Bushenyi will be arrested and dealt with according to the law.

Bugyendo still cautioned meat consumers to first check for stamps from animal husbandry official on butcheries before they buy meat.

He warned farmers who still use pesticides on animals to stop immediately before the long arm of the law touches them.

The battle that has been on for sometime over the location of a 1.6b seed school in Bumbaire sub County Bushenyi district has been resolved by the ministry of education successfully.

Some of the councilors including Bushenyi district chairman Jaffari Bassajabalaba and the speaker Justine Burisada resolved in a council that the school must be built at Kigurusi land not at Kabushaho

Following the advert that ran in New Vision calling for potential contractors to construct the school, it is supposed to be constructed at Kabushaho land not Kigurusi

Having heard what the district chairman, district speaker and the area council called bad news but which Kabushaho residents call good news, the trio rushed to Kampala yesterday to save the situation but according to impeccable sources from the ministry to www.mknewslink.com ,the three cannot reverse anything.

Earlier in an interview with the area MP Micheal Mawanda who re-instated Kabushaho secondary school after along time of closure, he noted who is Jaffari Bassajabalaba to say that his decision is irreversible?

Last month in an interview with the Bishop West Ankole diocese Johnson Twinomujuni who is head of Kabushaho foundation body told a media conference at Katungu Mothers Union that we are in charge.

He said that there were some politics at play but noted he would manage them and indeed he has managed them.

President Museveni has hailed Woman Member of Parliament Buhweju district Oliver Katwesigye Kwoyekyenga for attending presidents meetings at state house, parliament and constituency.

Museveni noted that Kwoyekyenga is unlike her male counterpart Francis Mwijukye who spends most of his time abusing Museveni, NRM and the public.

He said this in a special message he sent to Oliver Kwoyekyenga of which www.mknewslink.com has a copy.

The president advised the people of Buhweju to support Oliver in 2021 adding that she supports what concerns them.

In Ibanda—–

Clinical Officer in Kamwenge was on Saturday morning killed by unknown people while returning from overnight prayers.

Fred Mutatiina, 38, met his death on Saturday at around3.30am
at Nganiko trading center, Kamwenge district while he returned from Ntara Born Again full Gospel church together with his wife.

Mutatina was riding his motorcycle, and unknown people illegally blocked his way in the middle of the road.

According to the wife, Mutatiina was hit in the head with a hammer and then cut with a panga to death. His body was found in a pool of blood and his wife was rushed to Ibanda Hospital in critical condition.

Speaking at his burial in Kikucu cell, Kagongo division, Ibanda
municipal, Fred Magezi of Operation Wealth Creation from Ntara Sub County in Kamwenge district noted that the killers only targeted the life of Mutatiina and nothing else.

Heblamed such acts on the youthwhodo not want to work, but decide to spend their time in Bars, smoking marijuana and boozing on crude waragi only totarget people from markets, over night prayers and films.
Pastor Valentino Rwamihiigo of Ntara Full Gospel church described Mutatina as a true Christian and a manwho took God as his all in all.

The NRM revolutionary agenda is slowly aging and turning of great strategic importance to this demographically young country although the waters are turbulent and hey… let’s balance the boat!

Many leaders in the party ranks and Members of parliament are simply making a fortune out of this situation and are actually accomplished predators, parasitesbankrupt of the commitment to keep Uganda a pearl now.

Unfortunate!

Most of the members of parliament today, even those you see making noise are just shaking the tree to have fruits , others in the frenzy to position themselves for cabinet appointments for their own interests at the expense of the ordinary Ugandan. This term, from 2016 May it’s so far terrible. No legislation has ever been championed by our leaders for the benefit of a common person. Environmental degradation is at its peak, corruption a custom, counterfeit goodsawash on the market, education system over commercialized with no checks and balances, young people hoodwinked into politics for survival, as opposed to service, etc.

They concentrate on ping-pong with the state, turned the temple of legislation into a casino hall where gambling and deals are cut as they wet their beaks and fill their bellies,glitter their lips up.

It’s important for the young people to take centre in the politics of this country and this is through ideologically sound political participation, qualityrepresentation driven by the zeal to foster the plight of thecommon person.

Once we do this,we shall have legislation that targets to sort out all economic huddles that require political goodwill to be addressed thereby harnessing our economic gain and strategically setting our country to steady fast strides towards the middle income status.

We should appreciate those who have played their part in the last 15 years but practically we must agree that all those who have served whether in NRM or the opposition for more than 10years apart from the visionary father of the NRM revolution must be shown the exit through the ballot and a new generation leadership takes over come 2021.

We have a crop of young people from all regions of the country ready to take the mantle and deliver Uganda but as we all know,no commander wins without troops and weaponry.

You fellow Ugandans especially in the NRM are the troops;your votes are the weapons. Forget about the billions earned a wrong way to be splashed to you in exchange for votes.

Forget the flamboyant stunts. Discard the deception,let the average person take over so that the lower person may raise.

We within the entire network know that this is achievable and we shall present ourselves to offer leadership as long as you rally behind and in front of us.

Those in Sheema we no longer want patronage. We want projects for the poor.

We want quality roads. We want alternative less land intensive economic activities for the landless. We want quality trade. We want tailor-made economic interventions for all gender. We want consultativeand participatory representation.

My fellow NRM party members, let’s clean our house and rejuvenate the might of our party. Let’s give the young hope and confidence in their party.

Let’s bequeath good political practices to the young generation and secure the future of our country.

In Kampala

A leaked document shows that the Bank of Uganda (BoU) deputy governor Dr. Louis Kasekende transferred 12 plots of land into the names of his driver Moses Musitwa in an effort to dodge the scrutiny of the Inspector General of Government (IGG).

The IGG among other mechanisms used the Leadership Code Act 2002, to catch senior public officials who may have involved in corruption to grow wealth. The officials are required by the Act to declare their properties for purposes of accountability and transparency.

According to the document, Dr. Kasekende transferred the properties to the names of his driver on January 31, 2018.

The document says Kasekende has 35 properties in his names yet he only declared to IGG six properties.

The leaked documents show that much as Kasekende transferred the properties into names of his driver Musitwa, there is no evidence to show that the deputy governor sold the plots to the latter.

The plots are located in Busiro on Block 314. They are plots No. 6090, 6091, 6092, 6093, 6094, 6095, 6096, 6097, 6098, 6099, 6100 and 6101. The plots range from 0.045

However, sources dealing with this matter say nil value of properties was indicated on the transfer form from, raising questions how the properties could be registered with such anomaly.

On the consent to transfer form dated February 1, 2018 indicates that a consideration of Shs3 million was indicated as the value for all the 12 properties.

The document also shows Kasekende owns seven plots of land in; Makindu Lane, Buloba (4 plots), Bokoto Rise and Lower Naguru East Road. The document also shows his brother Herman Kasekende also owns six plots in Nama, Birongo, Lukuli (2 plots), Munyonyo and Kisugu.

It further shows other individuals also owning land; Martin Kasekende with land in Kiruddu, Kyambogo View Street. It also shows Harriet L. Kasekende owning plot 990 Kiwatule, Mengo, George Kasekende with land at Mpererwe, Barbara Kahubire also has at Munyonyo. The document also shows businessman Karim Hirj on plot 990 at Munyonyo.

Recently news brought articles on properties that Kasekende did not declare to the IGG.

The plots Kasekende that were never declared are; Plot 38 (0.157 hectares) in Lower Naguru on East road worth Shs1.280 billion, Plot 1423 on block 314 in Buloba worth Shs432 million.

Others whose value is not quoted are; Plot 1738 (0.809 hectares), Plot 3213 (0.079 hectares), plot 1427 (3.647 hectares), plot 184 (2.7 hectares), plot 1754 (1.624 hectares) and plot 6102 (0.317 hectares). All the plots are on block 314 in Buloba.

Meanwhile Kasekende was able to declare five properties. They include; Plot 2A (0.142 Hectares) in Makindu worth Shs3.6 billion, Plot 2 (0.22 Hectares) on Bukoto Rise worth Shs2.7 billion, Block 314, plot 706, Plot 1475 Lubowa Estate worth Shs3.6 billion and Plot 12 on Corporation Road Ntinda.
