In Mbarara

Court in Mbarara presided over by grade one magistrate Paul Mujuni has remanded eight Rwandan and one Tanzanian nationals on charges of illegal stay in Uganda and owning illegal business.

The remanded are France Mukeshima 35, Teddy Mukatwesiga 23, Florance Mukankubito 27,Yatashija Matilda 27, Lilian Owimana 23, Clare Nahimana 23, Shivan Nyangoma 26 (TZ), Ireen Owimana 28 and Yvonne Nyinamafaranga.

The nine have been in the police custody followingintelligence reports that a group of foreigners disguised as prostitutes had entered the country on furtive mission.

The nine have been remanded to Kyamugorani government prison up to tomorrow when they will again appear before court on charges of illegal stay and illegal ownership of business.

Recently, Emmy Kateera Turyabagyeni the RDC Mbarara revealed that their arrest was purposely intended to know how they entered the country and on which mission.

In Sheema

Police in Sheema are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 21 year old man.

The deceased; Arinda Diphas was yesterday at around 8:30pm found dead in the house of his girlfriend identified as Ashabahebwa Provia in Rugarama village, Rwamutojo, Sheema central division, Sheema district.

It is alleged that Provia used a hoe to hit the deceaseds head which led to his death.

Residents called the police who intervened immediately and the body was taken to Kabwohe health center 1V for postmortem.

SP Martial Tumusiime the greater Bushenyi police spokesperson confirmed that Ashabahebwa is now detained at Kabwohe police station as investigations into the matter continue.

Martial said that when investigations are complete, Ashabahebwa will be charged with murder.

He advised the public to be careful when dealing with relationship matters especially during this chrismas season.

In Fort portal

A reporter at Voice of Tooro has been clobbered by the Christians of Jerusalem Miracle Centre Pentecostal Church in East division, Fort Portal municipality.

Superior Mugaga was on Sunday attacked by the irate mob of Christians attached to Jerusalem Miracle Pentecostal church headed by pastor Dan Mubiiru.

According to the victim, the Christians confiscated his mobile phone before beating him seriously leaving his jacket and shirt torn apart. Superior was later admitted at Fort Portal hospital private wing after recording an assault case at the police.

Superior had gone to cover a land conflict story between JerusalemMiracle Centre, and Bethesda church belonging to Nabukeera Adyeeri.

Mid May this year Pr. Dan Mubiiru was nabbed and caged at Police for allegedly leadinga rival faction to raid on another church.

Pr Mubiru and his Christians allegedly stormed Bukwali Bethsaida Miracle Centre, demanding that Nabukeera Adyeeri and his followersvacate the premises on grounds that they were not the rightful owners of the land and the church itself.

The Kabarole district anti-riot police commander Yesamu, said police closed off the church and asked the leaders to first resolve their wrangles before it is reopened.

The torture of Superior comes hardly a week after the Fort Portal journalists demanded an explanation from Fort Portal Town clerk Deo Ndimo for allegedly mistreating, embarrassing and harassing them when they were chased away from a meeting at New Fort View on21st November labeling them strangers.

Acts of torturing the journalists are reportedly on the rise in Uganda especially by the NGOs, Pentecostal church pastors and government officials who are against the coverage of the alleged corruption scams, land grabbing and human rights violations.

In Bushenyi

After being ranked the 4th best general hospital in the country, Kampala International University teaching hospital Western Uganda (KIU) yesterday celebrated its health service achievements

The Ceremony was held on Saturday 8^thDecember 2018 at the hospital parking yard honored by quite a number of guests including faculty and staff.

The Ministry carried out the ranking of the best and worst hospitals at the Office of the President on Tuesday 30^thOctober.

The rankings that were made for the 2017/2018 financial year were based on indicators such as deliveries in health facilities, staffing levels, service delivery, and tuberculosis detection rates.

The Bishop of West Ankole diocese Rt. Rev Bishop Johnson Twinomujuni congratulated the university administration and its board of trustees upon passionately contributing to health service delivery in greater Bushenyi and western Uganda in particular.

He described tycoon Alhaj Hassan Basajabalaba, the chairperson board of trustees as a committed person .

Bishop Twinomujuni used the ceremony to describe some of the concepts of success that included having an attachment to this worlds author (God), health, strategic plan, Integrity, commitment, team work and time management.

Robinson Ssebuufu, the executive director KIU teaching hospital said to reach these achievements, as the hospital they are connecting with the community in different ways and one of them is through cooperate social responsibility like monthly cleaning exercise, medical camps adding that they are the biggest donors of blood through students.

The Deputy vice chancellor KIU western campus, Prof. Patrick Kyamanywa challenged the leadership and the staff of the hospital to find a moment for a retreat to reflect and analyze what is it; that they did that got the hospital to the fourth position and what they can do to get to the first position.

He implored the staff to have good customer care because it is what makes the health care service thrive.

Kyamanywa said that they are now pushing for non communicable disease awareness and control like diabetes and hypertension among others

In Kampala

Charles Muhangi has died, Vincent Ssekate the CID spokesperson has confirmed.

Ssekate says that Muhangi was found dead at his home in Buziga and that CID detectives have been dispatched to his home to investigate what could have happened.

Muhangi who had been a famous motorsport driver had recently been involved in wrangle over commercial buildings in Kampala.

Earlier this month, seven commercial buildings in the city were closed leaving traders stranded. Businessmen Mansur Matovu, alias Young, and Mr Drake Lubega said they were saving their buildings from being taken over illegally by Muhangi, who they said had already forced them out of Qualicel Bus Terminal, Qualicel building and Nabukera Plaza.
Mr Muhangi claimed ownership of the 0.518 hectare of the land on which Qualicel Bus Terminal, Qualicel building and Nabukera Plaza. He also insisted that he legally owned the land on which the buildings sat and advised both Mr Matovu and Mr Lubega to cooperate and vacate peacefully since he had defeated them in court.

The president had met the three businessmenon November 13th at State House to try and resolve the standing dispute.

In Bushenyi

Women have been called upon to handle their husbands with extra care in order to persuade them to offer love in back and participate in developmental activities as heads of families.

The call was made yesterday by Mrs Anet Katusiime Mugisha, The director Bamugisha welfare limited.

She was launching women saving schemes known as obubokisi in Kashenyi ward, Ishaka Division Bushenyi Ishaka Municpality a function that was held at the home of Mr Alex Mutaryebwa, the chairperson local council one Kashenyi 1 cell.

Katusiime said that fighting for equal rights with no contribution in a family is useless.

She implored women to use their compounds and verandahs to grow vegetables and fruits to raise income.

Katusiime contributed 1.6 million shillings to eight women saving schemes in cells Kashenyi ward each group taking 200,000 shillings.

She hopes that in three years each group will be able to raise more than 10 million which will help them to pay school fees for their children and cater other family needs.

In Kasese

Over 28 people are reported fighting for their lives at Kirembe hospital in Kasese after a bus accident that has happened at Kikorongo along Kasese Mbarara highway.

The bus belonging to the Link Coaches Company, which was speeding according to eyewitnesses, failed to negotiate a sharp bend.

The tragic scene happened at about8 am on Thursday morning, police say.

The bus was traveling from Bwera heading to Kampala with about 65 people on board.

It overturned and landed on its back on the roadside which is under construction.

In Mubende———

Police in Mubende District have recovered two bodies of children aged 4 and 2 allegedly drowned by their own father in a water dam before he took his own life.

Authorities identified the girls as Shifa Byamukama, 4 years, and Zabaayo Jackline, 2 years both residents of Kyakadali village, Bageza Sub-county in Mubende District.

Police also found the body of the victims father only identified as John Zabayo, 30, lying a few meters from the dam where their bodies were recovered.
Mubende District Police Commander, Mr Martin Okoyo said they have launched investigations into their death as they wait for postmortem reports from Mubende Regional Referral Hospital where the bodies were taken on Tuesday.

Mr John Mary Viviane, the LC1 Chairperson of the village told www.mknewslink.com that Zabayo has had a troubled life ever since his wife separated with him and abandoned the children.

The new formation political system leader Rtd. Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu has called upon the media to help his new formation reshape peoples mindset on the direction of the country.

Muntu who was yesterday addressing a press conference at Little Woods Iin in Mbarara municipality confirmed that a political party launch is on track.

He revealed that the bigger part of Ugandans think contrary to reality because the ruling government has managed to shape their minds into comparing the past with the present than the future.

He narrated that as the new formation with an agenda to change this country, they are going to find solutions on how to help people with a mindset change to tilt politicians and have the best ones.

Muntu challenged Ugandans thinking that he is a Museveni project saying time will determine the truth thus urging other members of opposition political parties to join them and have the same ideology since they are aiming at the same goal.

The High Court has postponed the hearing of three cases in the multibillion dispute between Bank of Uganda (BoU) and city tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia to next year.
The hearing of the three applications which had been scheduled for Wednesday was pushed to January 21 to allow the two parties further explore an out-of-court settlement.
The other ground of adjourning the case was that BoU officials were appearing before the Parliamentary committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) to answer queries raised by the Auditor General in the closure of seven commercial banks.
The High Court had in October set November 21 to hear the three applications before they could hear out the main case if mediation talks failed.
In two applications, Bank of Uganda is seeking to amend its pleadings in the main case; be granted extension of time to file its defense to counter the alternative suit by Ruparelia against the central bank.
In the third application, Rupareliais seeking court to dismiss BoU pleadings against him in the case where the central bank sued him for allegedly fleecing his Crane Bank, now closed and liquidated.

Mid last year, the central bank sued Ruparelia and his Meera Investments Company, for allegedly fleecing his self-owned Crane Bank of Shs397b in fraudulent transactions and transfers.

Ruparelia denied the accusations and counter-sued the Central Bank, seeking compensation of $8m (about Shs28b) in damages for alleged breach of contract.
The case was referred for mediation but the arbitration has stalled or slowed down.
Rules of mediation require that out-of-court talks should not exceed two months and should the parties fail to agree in that period, the case file be returned to court for a full hearing before a judge. The mediation talks in this matter have dragged on for long since November last year.
